Abstract

Destinationen sind die eigentlichen Wettbewerbseinheiten im Tourismus. Weil Destinationen aus Menschen als Bürger und nicht nur aus Angestellten bestehen, weil Destinationen aus verschiedenen unabhängigen Unternehmen und nicht nur aus unterstellten Abteilungen bestehen, weil Tourismus verschiedene externe Effekte erzeugt und aus verschiedenen anderen Gründen braucht es für das Management von Destinationen neue Ansätze. Wie entsteht in einer Destination ein zusammenhängendes touristisches Produkt, welche Erfolgsbedingungen lassen sich für Strategien von Destinationen ableiten, wie lässt sich der Erfolg einer Destination im Wettbewerb messen, wie lassen sich Strategien intern trotz widersprüchlicher Interessen von Bürgern und Unternehmen durchsetzen? Für diese und andere Erklärungs- und Gestaltungsfragen liefert das vorliegende Buch Antworten. Als erstes im deutschsprachigen Raum befasst es sich mit dem im Zusammenhang mit der Revitalisierung des Tourismus wichtigen Thema des Destinationsmanagements.
