La oikonomía se refiere a la economía de la vida o a la relación estrecha entre trabajo y vida. Y, en el caso concreto de este libro, a la economía llevada a cabo por mujeres. La obra se ha estructurado en cuatro capítulos muy distintos: Kémit (Egipto); época tardorromana (siglos III-V d.C.); Edad Media (Cataluña, Italia, siglos XIII-XV); y sociedad victoriana. Los cuatro análisis siguen el mismo planteamiento: una forma distinta de entender el valor histórico de los trabajos de las mujeres. Hemos dado una visión feminista de los mismos, poniendo en primer lugar el trabajo de cuidados, porque éste es el más importante por y para la sociedad: el sostenimiento de la vida, el mantenimiento de la existencia. Sigue el de reproducción –vital y social– y, por último, el de producción.

Several interdisciplinary studies highlight imperfect information as a possible explanation of skill mismatches, which in turn has implications for unemployment and informality rates. Despite information failures and their consequences, countries like Colombia (where informality and unemployment rates are high) lack a proper labour market information system to identify skill mismatches and employer skill requirements. One reason for this absence is the cost of collecting labour market data. Recently, the potential use of online job portals as a source of labour market information has gained the attention of researchers and policymakers, since these portals can provide quick and relatively low-cost data collection. As such, these portals could be of use for Colombia. However, debates continue about the efficacy of this use, particularly concerning the robustness of the collected data. This book implements a novel mixed-methods approach (such as web scraping, text mining, machine learning, etc.) to investigate to what extent a web-based model of skill mismatches can be developed for Colombia. The main contribution of this book is demonstrating that, with the proper techniques, job portals can be a robust source of labour market information. In doing so, it also contributes to current knowledge by developing a conceptual and methodological approach to identify skills, occupations, and skill mismatches using online job advertisements, which would otherwise be too complex to be collected and analysed via other means. By applying this novel methodology, this study provides new empirical data on the extent and nature of skill mismatches in Colombia for a considerable set of non-agricultural occupations in the urban and formal economy. Moreover, this information can be used as a complement to household surveys to monitor potential skill shortages. Thus, the findings are useful for policymakers, statisticians, and education and training providers, among others.

Ce livre retrace l'un des épisodes clés de la planification de l'ordre économique international issu de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Il examine la genèse, les négociations et l'échec de la Charte de La Havane qui établissait les statuts de l'Organisation internationale du commerce (OIC). Ce livre s'inscrit dans une démarche transdisciplinaire caractéristique des travaux récents en Économie politique internationale. Il contribue au débat actuel sur les interprétations gramsciennes de l'hégémonie internationale. Revenir aux sources de l'Organisation mondiale du commerce (OMC), créée en 1995, permet ainsi de montrer comment la Charte de La Havane fut une première tentative – certes avortée – de s'attaquer aux enjeux fondamentaux de la mondialisation.

Los trabajos que este libro reúne surgen de investigaciones de campo que exploran, de manera comparativa y pluridisciplinaria, cuatro aspectos fundamentales de los llamados "espacios infranacionales" dentro de la globalización: las reorganizaciones productivas de las ciudades y regiones; las transformaciones de las instituciones y los actores involucrados en la toma de decisiones a nivel local; las recomposiciones territoriales y las movilidades espaciales que las acompañan; y los cambios en las condiciones de vida y las identidades de los residentes. El objetivo es destacar la interdependencia de estos cuatro temas no sólo desde una perspectiva académica y teórica, sino también desde el punto de vista de las estrategias, de las "lógicas prácticas" de actores locales en su adaptación a una de las transformaciones más profundas de la historia del capitalismo. La obra está organizada en cuatro secciones: las dos primeras agrupan artículos que abordan, por una parte, las dinámicas de los cambios en las aglomeraciones productivas urbanas y regionales v, por otra, la afirmación de nuevos actores que desempeñan un papel relevante en la transformación de los tejidos productivos o en las políticas públicas encaminadas a apoyarlos; la tercera sección se ocupa de aquellas adaptaciones que, mediante las movilidades de los trabajadores locales, han influido sobre las diferencias de oportunidades económicas entre las distintas escalas espaciales; finalmente, en la cuarta sección se estudian los cambios en los modos y las condiciones de vida de los residentes de las ciudades y regiones que se acompañan, frecuentemente, de transformaciones y luchas de representaciones de las identidades.
