The popularity of his monumental and definitive works established Shabtai Rosenne as the undisputed expert on the International Court of Justice's law and practice of his time. Irrefutably the leading work on the court, previous editions of "Rosenne's Law and Practice of the International Court" have influenced generations of legal scholars, practitioners, judges, and students alike. The Fifth Edition, by Malcolm N. Shaw, combines his expertise as both an academic and practitioner to bring this monumental resource up-to-date while retaining Rosenne's distinctive voice, erudition, and rigorous objectives. Preserving Rosenne's focus on the caselaw of the court, the Fifth Edition is supplemented with increased references to the leading academic literature, and, like the Fourth Edition, is divided into four substantive volumes.

This scholarly work by Shabtai Rosenne examines the concept of intervention in the proceedings of the International Court of Justice (ICJ). The book explores the historical and legislative background of Articles 62 and 63 of the ICJ's Statute, which govern intervention by third parties in ongoing cases. Rosenne provides an analysis of various landmark cases, including the Continental Shelf disputes and the Nicaragua intervention, to elucidate the complexities and implications of intervention in international law. The book is grounded in extensive research conducted at the University of Utrecht and the Peace Palace Library, offering both a historical perspective and a discussion of contemporary diplomatic challenges. It is intended for legal scholars, practitioners, and students of international law.

This book is a compilation of proceedings from a symposium organized in honor of Professor Henry G. Schermers, focusing on the topic of compliance with judgments of international courts. The symposium, held at Leiden University, brought together esteemed speakers from the International Court of Justice, the European Court of Human Rights, and the Court of Justice of the European Communities. The discussions highlighted the challenges and importance of enforcing international court judgments, which is often lacking centralized mechanisms at the international level. The book serves as a valuable resource for understanding the enforcement of international legal decisions and the distinctive issues faced by different courts. It is intended for an audience interested in international law, particularly scholars and practitioners in the fields of human rights and European Community law.
