Abstract

High index-contrast nanophotonic devices are key components for future board-to-board and chip-to-chip optical interconnects: The strong confinement of light enables dense integration, and nonlinear effects can be exploited at low power levels. Cheap large-scale production is possible by using highly parallel microfabrication techniques, and semiconductor-based nanophotonic devices can be integrated together with electronic circuitry on a common chip. Particularly intense research is carried out to realise optical devices on silicon substrates, using mature complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) fabrication techniques.This book discusses the modelling, fabrication and characterization of linear and nonlinear nanophotonic devices. Roughness-related scattering loss in high index-contrast waveguides is investigated both theoretically and experimentally, and methods of loss reduction are developed. Novel silicon-based devices for electro-optic modulation and for all-optical signal processing are presented. Nonlinear dynamics in active quantum-dot devices are studied, and resonant field enhancement is exploited to improve the efficiency of nonlinear interaction.

Abstract

In diesem Open-Access-Buch werden die politischen Ziele der Ambulantisierung und der sektorengleichen Vergütung den aktuellen Herausforderungen in der Chirurgie gegenübergestellt. Die unzureichend an die steigenden Kosten angepasste Vergütung spiegelt sich in einem signifikanten Rückgang des Reinertrags chirurgischer Einzelpraxen wider. Als Folge sinkt die Zahl ambulanter Operationen (AOPs). Die Ergebnisse der vorliegenden Studie zeigen, dass die Besondere Versorgung den Herausforderungen begegnen, die Ergebnisqualität verbessern und Sektorengrenzen aufbrechen sowie die Ambulantisierung bei geringerer Einflussnahme auf medizinische Entscheidungen und deutlich höherer Vergütung ausbauen kann. Als Handlungsempfehlung resultiert ein Ersatz der auf Soll-Werten basierenden Einzelleistungsvergütungen durch modifizierte Hybrid-DRGs mit regelmäßig aufwandsorientierten Vergütungsanpassungen für Krankenhäuser und Vertragsärzte mit/ohne Krankenhausanbindung. Findet eine Umsetzung in der Regelversorgung nicht statt und bestehen weiterhin keine finanziellen Anreize, können laufende Projekte der Besonderen Versorgung weiter ausgebaut werden. Der Autor Tobias Kisch ist Facharzt für Plastische, Rekonstruktive und Ästhetische Chirurgie, zertifizierter Handchirurg und MBA im Gesundheitsmanagement. Er promovierte 2012, habilitierte 2018 und ist neben seiner chirurgischen Tätigkeit als Universitätsdozent, Gutachter, Studienleiter in der Forschung und als Mitglied in der Ethik-Kommission tätig. .

Abstract

In this book, silicon photonic integrated circuits are combined with electro-optic organic materials for realizing energy-efficient modulators with unprecedented performance. These silicon-organic hybrid Mach-Zehnder modulators feature a compact size, sub-Volt drive voltages, and they support data rates up to 84 Gbit/s. In addition, a wet chemical waveguide fabrication scheme and an efficient fiber-chip coupling scheme are presented.

Abstract

To create photonic multi-chip modules, integrated photonic chips need to be connected internally and to external glass fibers. A novel approach to address this task is the concept of photonic wire bonding, where free-standing polymer waveguides are printed in-situ by two-photon polymerization. This book contains a detailed description of the methodology of photonic wire bonding together with a number of key experiments.
