"This book spins around the convening idea of variability to offer fourteen new views into the Pyramid and Coffin Texts and related materials that overarch archaeology, philology, linguistics, writing studies, religious studies and social history by applying innovative approaches such as agency, politeness, material philology and object-based studies, and under a strong empirical focus. In this book, you will find from a previously unpublished coffin or a reinterpretation of the so-called 'Letters to the Dead' to graffiti's interaction with monumental inscriptions, 'subatomic' studies in the spellings of the Osiris' name or the puzzles of text transmission, among other novel topics"--

An in-depth look at British–Polish literary pre-Enlightenment contacts, The Call of Albion explores how the reverberations of British religious upheavals in distant Poland–Lithuania surprisingly served to strengthen the impact of English, Scottish, and Welsh works on Polish literature. The book argues that Jesuits played a key role in that process. The book provides an insightful account of how the transmission, translation, and recontextualization of key publications by British Protestants and Catholics served Calvinist and Jesuit agendas, while occasionally bypassing barriers between confessionally defined textual communities and inspiring Polish–Lithuanian political thought, as well as literary tastes.

In his latest book, Carlos Gracia Zamacona presents a corpus-based comprehensive analysis of the ancient Egyptian Coffin Texts (ca. 2000-1600 BCE), texts of enormous editorial, cultural, historical social, linguistic, anthropological, and religiious complexity. Rather than focusing on highly speculative hypothetical reconstructions of the texts or interpretations of their religious or anthropological contents, Gracia Zamacona puts textual witnesses at the center of the study. By examining how and why the coffins were made and the information they give us about the mortuary culture of ancient Egypt, Gracia Zamacona shows that the Coffin Texts were a repository rather than a canon. His study offers new insight into the texts, revealing their performative and highly personalized practical context.

The Archive of the Sacromonte Abbey in Granada preserves a historical treasure: Arabic texts on a sheet of parchment and on numerous small tablets of lead, which were discovered in Granada at the end of the sixteenth century in the tower of the old Friday Mosque and in caves of the "Valparaíso" hillock, from then on called "Sacromonte". They became the object of heated discussions in Europe and were condemned by the Pope in 1682. The texts are among the very last literary productions of the Moriscos, the Andalusi Muslims, many of whom continued to practice Islam in secret until their expulsion from Spain between 1609 and 1614. With the permission of the archbishop of Granada, we offer, for the first time in history, a study, edition, translation, and images of all the tablets and shed new light on the fascinating religious messages of these enigmatic texts and their authors.
