This publication compiles data and notes taken during my position as a postdoctoral researcher(from November 2017 until October 2020) on the ERC-StG 716375 project PATRIMONIVM – Geography and Economy of the Imperial Properties in the Roman World at the Institut Ausoniusof the Université Bordeaux-Montaigne. It touches on various aspects of the imperial ousiai ofRoman Egypt in an attempt to embed them in the broader framework of (public) landmanagement under Imperial rule. Given the abundance of sources on land ownership andmanagement during this period, this volume by no means claims to be comprehensive. I am wellaware that many features remain underexposed, but hope this exposition will provide a newimpetus for the study of the multifaceted subject that is the administration and exploitation ofresources in Roman Egypt, and how they relate to the mechanics of the vast empire this provincewas such a crucial part of. -- Page ii
