This ground-breaking study in Septuagint translation technique is, after sixty years, finally available to an English-speaking audience. Barthélemy provides us with a first look at the fragments of the Greek Minor Prophets Scroll from the Cave of Horror and embarks on a careful examination of this scroll's place in the history of Septuagint translation and revision. He poses questions and answers that have yet to be fully explored. Devanciers d'Aquila is described as "epoch-making" (Robert Kraft-Gnomon), "a stimulating contribution" (Sidney Jellicoe-Journal of the American Oriental Society), and "a monograph of singular importance" (Geza Vermes-Journal of Semitic Studies).

This book deals with the topic on remote sensing monitoring of desert locust in Africa and Asia. Remote sensing monitoring of the occurrence and damage of desert locust is conducted by integrating cutting-edge technologies and methods in cross-disciplinary fields in remote sensing science, geographic information science, agronomy, plant protection, agricultural meteorology, mathematics, and computer science. The main contents include spatio-temporal data analysis and processing, desert locust breeding areas monitoring, pest migration path analysis and damage monitoring. Moreover, a desert locust remote sensing monitoring system is constructed and applied in the region of Africa and Asia countries. This book not only provides technical reference for remote sensing monitoring and application of desert locust but also serves as a research reference for scholars and graduate students engaged in agricultural remote sensing, agricultural information technology, plant protection and other related field. It will help to improve remote sensing monitoring and application of desert locust.

Egypt is revered as the home of the famous Desert Ascetics, who first embraced a monastic life and established homosocial communities on the borders of their urban centres in the Nile Valley. Regarded as angels and warriors, the wisdom of the Desert Ascetics formed part of the oral and literary tradition of wonder-working saints whose commitment to asceticism was legendary and inspirational. This book grounds the mythologized stories of Desert Ascetics in the materiality of the desert, demonstrating the closeness of the desert, the connections between non-monastic and monastic communities, and the exciting insights into lived monasticism through the archaeology of monasticism in Egypt.
