The Crimean peninsula in the Black Sea, rich in history and charm, is of great geostrategic importance. This leads to political conflicts time and again. But what is everyday life like in Crimea beyond the discourses about law, borders and war? What do local intellectuals think about the situation today? Can Geopoetry help to counteract the current crisis? Tatjana Hofmann's ethnographic long-term observation explores these questions. Her poetic essay, illustrated with magnificent photographs by Alexander Barbuch, transcends the usual boundaries of genre and searches for perspectives far removed from common patterns of interpretation. Tatjana Hofmann, a Slavist and author, lives in Zurich. "Krim – Erkundungen am Rand Europas" continues her 2015 novel "Sewastopologia" continues.

There is a growing recognition that rapid action in response to climate change is urgently necessary, and that many of the responsibilities for this action (e.g., relating to transport, land-use planning and economic development) rest at the local level. This is attested to by the growing number of local authorities that have declared climate emergencies across the globe. Responding to this emergency will require significant changes in the assumptions, expectations, priorities and procedures of locally elected representatives and government officials. This Special Issue will explore the responses of local government, as a key locus of sustainability governance, to the need for rapid climate action, drawing on examples from diverse locations (UK, western Europe, Chile and South Africa) and at various scales (from the smallest local areas, to city regions, counties and provinces).

Indigenous Motherhood in the Academy highlights the experiences and narratives emerging from Indigenous mothers in the academy who are negotiating their roles in multiple contexts. The essays in this volume contribute to the broader higher education literature and the literature on Indigenous representation in the academy, filling a longtime gap that has excluded Indigenous women scholar voices. This book covers diverse topics such as the journey to motherhood, lessons through motherhood, acknowledging ancestors and grandparents in one’s mothering, how historical trauma and violence plague the past, and balancing mothering through the healing process. More specific to Indigenous motherhood in the academy is how culture and place impacts mothering (specifically, if Indigenous mothers are not in their traditional homelands as they raise their children), how academia impacts mothering, how mothering impacts scholarship, and how to negotiate loss and other complexities between motherhood and one’s role in the academy.

This study intends to explore how does the improvement of the phygital customer journey processes could impact the Walloon manufacturers' authorised dealers’ aftersales. The Belgian automotive sector is in the midst of a revolution: disrupted by the shortage of semi-conductors, the dazzling progress of electrification, the introduction of innovative services… Which resulted in enormous upheaval in the new vehicle market, a boost in the second-hand vehicle market and, little by little, an evolution of the aftermarket. Moreover, In the age of digitalisation, consumers are increasingly integrating the virtual into their purchasing process. To address this issue, this study focuses on the relationships between the Belgian aftermarket and service quality – taking into account customer satisfaction and loyalty – as a result of servicization and the advent of electrified vehicles. This research contributes to find managerial ways to assist dealerships in optimising processes but also in changing their habits to cope with this ongoing shift towards their after-sales activities, by means of literature review, quantitative research and control survey with experts.

An exploration of interaction design through 35 classic examples of video games, from Space Invaders to Minecraft. Our lives are increasingly lived on screens, and every one of our electronic interactions is mediated by a designed interface, which can be buggy and incomprehensible or inviting and accessible. Like other ubiquitous everyday tools, these interfaces are seldom recognized as objects of design?and even less as objects of interactive design. In video games, however, users are acutely aware of their relationship with the interface, making video games compelling examples of this important field of contemporary design.Published in conjunction with an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art, Never Alone: Video Games as Interactive Design explores the impact of interactive design by examining 35 video games created between 1972 and 2018?from Space Invaders (1978) and Pac-Man (1980) to The Sims (2000) and Minecraft (2011). An overarching essay by curators Paola Antonelli, Anna Burckhardt and Paul Galloway presents the pioneering criteria by which MoMA has selected these video games for its collection, as well as the protocols for their acquisition, display and conservation. The richly illustrated plate section is divided into three sections that analyze input devices (keyboards, joysticks, buttons), game designers and players, and each game is accompanied by a short text illuminating its significance in the history of the medium.bron : https://www.copyrightbookshop.be/shop/never-alone-video-games-as-interactive-design-moma/

The risk of physical accident or injury to humans from horses is well understood. Now, there is increasing awareness of negative impacts on the physical and mental wellbeing of horses from living in fundamentally human environments and being subject to human management regimes. The 17 articles in this collection describe horse-related risks to humans and human-related risks to horses across a range of equestrian disciplines, sectors and activities. Not only do the authors take detailed approaches towards describing and calculating risk, they suggest solutions-focussed interventions for reducing the consequence and likelihood of harm to horses and humans in their relations with one another. Together, these important articles provide strategies for maximising the mutual benefits of humans and horses in each other’s lives. By considering human, animal and environmental aspects of horse-related risk, this collection provides a foundation for the development of an ‘Equestrian One Health’ framework to underpin future research into horse-related risks.
