This book sets out to clarify and explore the role that PPCs can play in the future pastoral development of a parish. It focuses on the purpose of the parish community within the context of the five P’s of the PPC: Pastoral, Prayerful, Partnership, Planning and Participation, with a view to preparing for the reality that is the twenty-first-century parish.

What is the relationship between where White Americans live and their attitudes about race? In How the Color Line Bends, Nina M. Yancy shows that what White people think depends on where they live--but not, as conventional wisdom might suggest, because they are more likely to feel "threatened" in places where race is salient. Rejecting this tendency to tacitly position White Americans as victims, this book focuses on power, agency, and positionality in the study of prejudice and place. Yancy looks at the White perspective through a number of racialized issues, including education, affirmative action, and welfare spending in cities across the United States, as well as a vivid case study of Baton Rouge.

The Mirror of Priests is a pastoral work written by Albert, an Augustinian canon from the Bavarian market town of Diessen, to guide local priests in their work with parishioners. Multiple versions of the text in Albert's own hand survive and, by comparing them, the book shows how ostensibly universal religious ideals and laws were adapted, interpreted, and repurposed by those given responsibility to implement them, thereby crafting distinctive, local expressions of Christianity.
