İstiklâl Marşı düşman ordularının Anadolu içlerine kadar yayıldığı, Millî Mücadele’nin ve meclisin en hararetli ve heyecanlı zamanlarını geçirdiği bir dönemde gündeme gelmiştir. Dolayısıyla bu süreçte aynı duyguları yoğun olarak yaşayan mütefekkir Mehmed Âkif’in paylaşım mahsulüdür. İstiklâl Marşı, gerek tekniği gerekse muhtevası bakımından herhangi bir millî marş güftesinin çok ilerisinde Türk edebiyatının en güzel lirik-hamâsî şiirlerindendir. Milletin iradesine ve Allah’ın müminlere vaad ettiği zaferin er geç gerçekleşeceğine inanan Mehmed Âkif’in İstiklal Marşı’nın güftesindeki özelliklerinin en önemlisi millî ve ulvî değerlerle dinî motifleri dengeli bir şekilde kıtalara yerleştirmesidir. Bayrak, hilâl, yıldız, hak, hürriyet, istiklâl, yurt, millet, ırk, vatan, kahramanlık gibi millî kavramlarla iman, şahâdet, helâl, cennet, hudâ, ezan, mâbed, vecd gibi dinî motifler birbiriyle uyum halinde zengin bir belâgatla kullanılmış, böylece Millî Mücadele’yi gerçekleştiren halkın ruhunda mevcut iki önemli kavram İstiklâl Marşı’nın da iki temel temasını oluşturmuştur.Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Devleti’mizin bağımsızlık sembollerinden olan İstiklâl Marşı’mızın kabulünün 100. yılı vesilesiyle İstiklal Marşı’nın, yazıldığı ortamın ve bir mütefekkir olarak Mehmed Âkif’in düşünce sisteminin yeni argümanlarla ele alınarak millî tespit ve söylemlerle manevî düşünce dinamiklerini hatırlamak ve yorumlamaya vesile olmak amacıyla oluşturulan bu eserde, sahalarında uzman yirmi üç yazarın kaleme aldığı çalışmalara yer verilmiştir. İlk dokuz yazıda İstiklal Marşı’nın ortaya çıktığı süreçteki siyasî gelişmeler, marşın arka planındaki inanç ve fikrî alt yapı ve dilbilimi açısından önemli tespitler yapılmıştır. Odak noktası Mehmet Âkif olan on dört yazıda ise; mütefekkirin ilim ve sanatı, kimliğinin oluşmasında etkili olan unsurlar, millî meselelerdeki hassasiyet ve yakın tarihimizde oynadığı önemli roller ayrıntılı bir şekilde ele alınmıştır.

The historiography of recent decades, based on the edition of numerous sources, has revised the issue of the spread of monastic reform in Southern Italy. In the face of the marginal influence of more widely established movements in Europe, there is instead the emergence of a plurality of experiences in search of an indigenous model of a hermitic and pastoral style. Among these, in its own right, should be inscribed the congregation of St. Mary of Gualdo. Through the analysis of a heterogeneous complex of surviving sources this work aims to reconstruct the genesis of the founding charism and the history of the religious family. Starting from the various hagiographic proposals produced for the founder, John of Tufara, the dynamics related to the institutionalization process will be probed. The support of the Apostolic See will facilitate, meanwhile, the balancing of relations with local bishops for religious organization and expansion, while monarchical authorities and local aristocracies will contribute to economic and patrimonial stabilization, up to the attempt to rise to monastic lordship. The proposed religious model, in addition to responding to the demands of ideals proper to the second revival of hermitism, is structured in a sensitive involvement in pastoral action, even contributing to the disappearance of the phenomenon of private churches. The yearning on the part of the laity to participate in the model of monastic life will find expression in the legal form of self-oblation, memorial practice, burial at the monastery, as well as in the activity of hospices linked to the monastic network and scattered along the pilgrimage routes to the shrine of the Archangel.Due to a series of concauses related to natural phenomena (plagues, earthquakes), internal crises of a religious nature, and finally the radical change in the economic system of the Aragonese age, the congregation will not succeed in remodeling its organization, thus heading toward the complete dissolution that will occur at the beginning of modernity. La storiografia degli ultimi decenni, sulla base dell’edizione di numerose fonti, ha provveduto a revisionare il tema della diffusione della riforma monastica nell’Italia Meridionale. A fronte del marginale influsso di movimenti più largamente affermatisi in Europa, si registra invece la nascita di una pluralità di esperienze alla ricerca di un modello autoctono di stampo eremitico e pastorale. Fra queste, a pieno titolo, va inscritta anche la congregazione di S. Maria del Gualdo. Attraverso l’analisi di un eterogeneo complesso di fonti superstiti questo lavoro si prefigge di ricostruire la genesi del carisma fondazionale e la storia della famiglia religiosa. Muovendo dalle diverse proposte agiografiche prodotte per il fondatore, Giovanni da Tufara, verranno sondate le dinamiche relative al processo di istituzionalizzazione. L’appoggio della Sede Apostolica faciliterà, intanto, l’equilibrio dei rapporti con i vescovi locali per l’organizzazione e l’espansione religiosa, mentre le autorità monarchiche e le aristocrazie locali contribuiranno alla stabilizzazione economica e patrimoniale, fino al tentativo di assurgere a signoria monastica. Il modello religioso proposto, oltre a rispondere alle esigenze di ideali propri della seconda rinascita dell’eremitismo, si struttura in un sensibile coinvolgimento nell’azione pastorale, contribuendo persino alla scomparsa del fenomeno delle chiese private. L’anelito da parte dei laici di partecipare al modello di vita monastica troverà espressione nella forma giuridica della oblazione di sé, nella prassi commemorativa, nella sepoltura presso il monastero, nonché nell’attività di ospizi legati alla rete monastica e disseminati lungo le vie di pellegrinaggio al santuario dell’Arcangelo. Per una serie di concause legate a fenomeni naturali (pestilenze, terremoti), a crisi interne di carattere religioso e infine al radicale mutamento del sistema economico di età aragonese la congregazione non riuscirà a rimodulare la propria organizzazione, avviandosi così verso il completo dissolvimento che sopraggiungerà all’inizio della modernità.

In 2015 the Salvation Army celebrated the 150th anniversary of its birth in the poverty and squalor of Londons East End. Today the Army is to be found in towns and cities throughout Britain, its members readily recognised through their military uniform and their reputation for good works widely acknowledged. Many people, however, are unaware of the origins and subsequent development of the organisation. At times Salvationists were imprisoned, beaten up in street riots and ridiculed in the press for their religious beliefs. Despite this persecution the Army put in place a programme of help for the poor and marginalised of such ambition that it radically altered social thinking about poverty. There have been very few attempts at writing a wider and accessible account which locates the Army in its historical context.
