Dominique Schnapper restitue de manière originale l’histoire de la sociologie. Elle montre que celle-ci se structure autour de styles nationaux qui n’ont ni la même origine ni les mêmes objets premiers, par exemple Durkheim et le défi de l’intégration républicaine ; Max Weber et l’interaction des hommes en société ou en communauté ; la sociologie anglaise et l’héritage de l’Empire ; ou bien encore l’école de Chicago et l’obsession de la ségrégation des Noirs. Elle définit enfin la nature de la sociologie, cet effort de connaissance rationnelle de l’ordre social qui universalise par principe des données objectives toujours particulières. Aujourd’hui les passions sont fortes qui opposent les "universalistes" et les "identitaires" sur les manquements des démocraties à leurs propres valeurs. Comment la connaissance sociologique permet-elle de comprendre les écarts entre les principes proclamés et la réalité des discriminations et des marginalités ? Faut-il penser qu’elles sont les effets de l’ordre démocratique lui-même ou, au contraire, de ses vertus et de ses inévitables limites ?

What does migration-generated diversity mean for cultural policy and the performing arts scene in Germany and how is it promoted? Through bridging theory and practice, Özlem Canyürek introduces the concept of ›thinking and acting interculturally‹ and proposes a set of criteria as a stepping stone for a semantic shift in cultural policy towards achieving a fair and accessible performing arts scene for all. Wie lässt sich die ästhetische Erfahrung des Negativen im Roman beschreiben? Und wie ist der strukturelle Zusammenhang zwischen Negativität und ästhetischer Attraktivität zu erklären? Die Arbeit argumentiert, dass die Negativität des Romans aus einer bestimmten Kombination von existentiellen, sprachlichen und rezeptionsbezogenen Gestalten des Neins besteht. Die entscheidende Neuerung des Ansatzes besteht darin, diese zum ersten Mal aufeinander zu beziehen, Negativität also nicht nur als darstellungsorientierte Qualität, sondern auch performativ sowie als Herausforderung für den Leser in den Blick zu rücken. Dieses dreistufige Modell wird anhand von historischen Paradigmen entfaltet: Der ästhetischen Dimension des philosophischen Pessimismus (A. Schopenhauer); aporetisch-ironischen (G. Flaubert), narrativ-diskursiven (S. Beckett) und hyperbolischen (T. Bernhard) Formen von Negativität, wie sie den Roman prägen, sowie einer neuen Literatur der Resignation (M. Houellebecq). Wie die Untersuchung zeigt, ist es gerade der Modus des Übergangs zwischen den drei Stufen der Negativität, der eine tentative Antwort auf die Frage zulässt, wie die paradoxe Lusterfahrung des Rezipienten zu erklären ist.
