This publication reproduces Calvin Marcus’s large paintings since 2018. Each painting attempts to achieve complete autonomy within its edges. Capturing dream-like visions and snapshots of the absurdity of contemporary life, they depict diverse subjects: animals, humanoid figures, interiors and landscape-like spaces. These singular representations share a sensibility, at once idiosyncratic and disarming, that immediately draws the viewer into the mysteries of the quotidian world. Each poses—with Marcus's humorous brand of surrealism—as many questions as answers.

Kasimir Malevich's treatise on Suprematism was included in the Bauhausbucher series in 1927, as was Piet Mondrian's reflections on Russian Constructivism in 1925 (New Design, Bauhausbucher 5). Like Mondrian, who was never an official member of the Bauhaus, Malevich nevertheless has a close connection to the ideas of the school in terms of content. This volume, the eleventh, remains the only book publication in Germany to be produced during the life of the Russian avant-garde artist, and it laid the foundation for his late work : to wrest the mask of life from the true face of art.

Né dans une famille d'origine allemande établie en Argentine vers 1850, Georges Bemberg (1915-2011) a constitué, tout au long de sa vie, une collection de peintures, de dessins et d'objets d'art comptant parmi les plus importantes de son temps. Selon les volontés du collectionneur et mécène, cet ensemble d'oeuvres emblématiques datant de la Renaissance au XXe siècle, est réuni depuis 1995 dans une Fondation et présenté dans un hôtel particulier de Toulouse, en France. Le temps d'une exposition exclusive, permise par les travaux de réaménagement du museþe toulousain, la Fondation de l'Hermitage a le privilège de dévoiler une sélection des plus grands chefs-d'oeuvre de cette prestigieuse collection privée.
