In den letzten Jahrzehnten hat die Frage, wie Gesellschaften mit der Vergangenheit umgehen, bei politischen Akteuren, in der Zivilgesellschaft und in der Wissenschaft zunehmende Beachtung gefunden. Diese Publikation trägt zu einem Dialog über Erfahrungen aus transnationaler und transregionaler Perspektive in Deutschland, Kolumbien und Südafrika bei.

This volume is based on the section "Transnationalities - Transidentities - Hybridities - Diasporization", organized by the Ibero-American and Francophone Research Centres of the University of Leipzig as part of the First Annual Conference of the Centre for Area Studies at the University of Leipzig. By now, already a decade has passed since our conference section took place and it is due to various circumstances that this volume has not been published earlier. It carries along, in some sense, its own migration trace. Nevertheless, the questions examined in the contributions have reached even more relevance since then in both, the Old World and the New, due to the various political, social, economic and ecological crisis around the globe that have led to the increased arrival of refugees to Europe and the harsh discussion about a concrete or "intelligent" wall to shield the USA from Latin American migrants, among others. Today, there is an urgent political and social need for concepts of living together in much more heterogeneous and much less familiar societies. The questions, notions and cases explored in the nine contributions that comprise this publication focus on this emergency. Participants on the volume: A. Chanady; A. de Toro; W. Ch. Dimock; D. ALFONSO DE TORO is Professor emeritus for Spanish, Portuguese, Ibero-American and Francophone Literatures and Cultures at the University of Leipzig. He is the founder and director of the Ibero-American and Francophone Research Centers (IAFS and FFSL). His research and publications are focused on theatre, narrative, and poetry in France, the Maghreb, Spain, Latin America, and Italy; as well as on culture, post-modern, post-colonial theories and hybridity and diaspora theories. CORNELIA SIEBER is Professor for Spanish, Portuguese and Latin-American Culture at the Faculty of Translation Studies, Linguistics and Cultural Studies of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz - Germersheim. She is director of the Centre for Latin American and Transatlantic Studies (CELTRA) and Co-Director of the IAFS. Seitdem das Fernsehen Politik macht, werden Einwände und Kritik gegen Regierende über den Bildschirm kommuniziert - die Bürger*innen sind in passives Zuschauen gedrängt. Der Aufstieg der sozialen Medien dagegen verspricht neue Möglichkeiten der Teilhabe. Doch wird der öffentliche Raum immer undurchsichtiger, komplexer und schwerer zu fassen: Meinungen und Verhaltensmuster werden zunehmend durch Algorithmen kontrolliert, die globalen Unternehmen unterstehen. Welche Alternativen bleiben angesichts dieser Enteignung? Dissidenz und Hacking? Im Spiegel der forcierten (Zwangs-)Digitalisierung durch die Covid-19-Pandemie widmet sich Néstor García Canclini aus kultur- und politikwissenschaftlicher Perspektive diesem Komplex.

Los regímenes progresistas se encuentran en una profunda crisis. Quien no se contenta con denunciar las previsibles maquinaciones del »imperialismo«, debe buscar las razones internas del fracaso del proclamado »socialismo del siglo XXI«. ¿Por qué tales regímenes, que deben su aparición y sus éxitos iniciales en gran medida a la movilización de las masas, no han podido mantener el apoyo activo de una mayoría de la población? La respuesta se busca aquí recurriendo al historial de la izquierda latinoamericana. El objetivo es mostrar cómo el concepto organizativo de Lenin ha llegado a América Latina, comenzando con las intervenciones de la Internacional Comunista. Se examina si este legado también ha influido en los protagonistas del »progresismo« y de qué manera. La reflexión en la parte principal se basa en el papel central de Hugo Chávez y su relación ambivalente con la herencia histórica de la izquierda.

América Latina atraviesa una marcada crisis ambiental, que está llevando al subcontinente a un colapso, entendido este como un cambio en la sociedad, y en la forma de vivir en la actualidad. Esta crisis ecológica se ha visto ahondada con la profundización del modelo económico neoliberal y del neoextractivismo, el cual ha generado una disputa por los bienes comunes. Al mismo tiempo en distintos territorios de la región se están desarrollando alternativas agroecológicas, cooperativas, redes de economía solidaria, eco-tecnologías apropiadas y nuevas construcciones societales basadas en paradigmas como el buen vivir, que van sembrando esperanzas de evitar el colapso, bajo el desarrollo de sociedades en movimiento que reflexionan y actúan en defensa de la madre tierra.
