Sophie Taeuber-Arp (1889-1943) was an artist but also a dancer, designer, puppet maker, architect and editor. A true pioneer of modern art, for Taeuber-Arp, abstraction was never just an idea; it was her way of life. This 'lived abstraction' plays a large part in the exhibition as the artworks on show, many together for the first time, explore how Taueber-Arp's subversive, dissident and often revolutionary style radiated into every facet of her life and paved the way for modern artists to come. Taeuber-Arp became a teacher after studying art and dance and later taught others how to design patterns for textiles. In the terrible wake of the first world war, European civilisation was on the brink of collapse and a group of young people were rebelling from the world of destruction around them. They themselves defined themselves as nonsensical, cynical, savage and abstract - the dadaists. Responsible for co-founding the dada art movement, Tauber-Arp's way with colours and shapes unlocked new possibilities in art, costume and interior design. La théorie culturelle du développement du psychisme humain élaborée par Vygotski amena ce dernier à accorder à l’éducation et aux apprentissages – en particulier scolaires – un rôle de tout premier plan. Dans cet ouvrage – issu d’un colloque qui eut lieu à Albi au printemps 2007 – les contributeurs s’interrogent sur la manière dont des chercheurs en éducation et en didactiques des disciplines mettent en œuvre certains concepts ou problématiques issus de la théorie vygotskienne dans leurs propres recherches. Cette mise en œuvre, qui peut revêtir plusieurs formes, a conduit quelques-uns d’entre eux à réfléchir – à partir de leur « rapport à Vygotski » – sur le statut de leurs propres recherches. This book examines the ways in which decolonial theory has gained traction and influenced knowledge production, praxis and epistemic justice in various contemporary iterations of community psychology across the globe. With a notable Southern focus (although not exclusively so), the volume critically interrogates the biases in Western modernist thought in relation to community psychology, and to illuminate and consolidate current epistemic alternatives that contribute to the possibilities of emancipatory futures within community psychology. To this end, the volume includes contributions from community psychology theory and praxis across the globe that speak to standpoint approaches (e.g. critical race studies, queer theory, indigenous epistemologies) in which the experiences of the majority of the global population are more accurately reflected, address key social issues such as the on-going racialization of the globe, gender, class, poverty, xenophobia, sexuality, violence, diasporas, migrancy, environmental degradation, and transnationalism/globalisation, and embrace forms of knowledge production that involve the co-construction of new knowledges across the traditional binary of knowledge producers and consumers. This book is an engaging resource for scholars, researchers, practitioners, activists and advanced postgraduate students who are currently working within community psychology and cognate sub-disciplines within psychology more broadly.
