This book presents the results of an empirical study on the profile of lawyers associated with various bar associations in Flanders and Brussels, conducted between May and July 2020. It marks the third edition of the Lawyers' Barometer, following previous studies in 2006/2007 and 2012/2013. Led by professors Wim Hardyns and Stephan Parmentier, the research was commissioned by the Order of Flemish Bar Associations. The study examines the professional structure, clientele, fees, and evolving trends in the Flemish legal profession. It also explores changes since the first barometer, offering valuable insights for the Order of Flemish Bar Associations and further research. This comprehensive reference is aimed at those interested in understanding the legal profession in Flanders, including lawyers and researchers.

The book describes the life and the world of a small-time lawyer, Adrien-Joseph Colson, who lived in central Paris from the end of the Old Regime through the first eight years of the French Revolution. It is based on over a thousand letters written by Colson about twice a week to his best friend living in the French province of Berry. By means of this correspondence, and of a variety of other sources, the book examines what it was like for an "ordinary citizen" to live through extraordinary times, and how Colson, in his position as a "social and cultural intermediary," can provide insight into the life of a whole neighborhood on the central Right Bank, both before and during the Revolution. It explores the day-to-day experience of the Revolution: not only the thrill, the joy, and the enthusiasm, but also the uncertainty, the confusion, the anxiety, the disappointments-often all mixed together. It also throws light on some of the questions long debated by historians concerning the origins, the radicalization, the growth of violence, and the end of that Revolution.

John-Christian Eurell studies how Peter's authority is portrayed to create legitimacy in Christian texts. Peter emerges as a central figure in the diverse early Christian movement and is used to discuss theological legitimacy. The main divide is between those who argue that legitimate theology should have a conservative point of departure based on traditional material handed down from the earthly Jesus and an apostolic succession based on interpersonal relations and those who argue in favour of a more progressive point of departure which places emphasis on contemporary charismatic experiences. These perspectives are utilised by groups of various theological persuasions to argue their own position. Peter is seen as a positive and negative example for both these ways of creating legitimacy.

"Comprising the papers read at the 68th meeting of the Colloquium Biblicum Lovaniense, which was held in 2019, Peter in the Early Church: Apostle - Missionary - Church Leader reflects the abundance and striking variety of literary and non-literary early Christian traditions about Peter. Such variety has in the past led researchers to describe the figure of Peter as malleable. By adopting a wide range of scholarly ways of reading texts or posing questions, as is now characteristic of New Testament studies, the papers in this volume reflect and develop further recent challenges to the classic binaries of canonical vs. non-canonical, orthodox vs. heterodox or heretical, elite vs. popular, core vs. marginal, and 'pure' vs. syncretistic. Thus in addition to demonstrating the productivity of plotting the various embodiments of Peter and their manifold interrelationships, this volume opens up new vistas and raises new questions about this most central yet enigmatic figure of early Christian memory."

In 'An Equal Place', Scott Cummings focuses on the movement for a living wage in Los Angeles and explores greater implications for the role of contemporary lawyers outside of the courtroom. The campaign to implement a living wage in L.A. was the most famous effort in the country, and advocates for it were largely successful, in part because they used the law to advance their agenda.
