This work studies, in the form of a dictionary, all the more than three hundred daily newspapers that between 1900 and 2000 were published in mainland Portugal, Madeira and the Azores. The year or years of publication of the newspapers are indicated, as well as the political trend, format, names of directors, sub-directors, editors-in-chief and administrators, ownership and addresses of the newsrooms and composition and printing workshops. A summary of the life of each newspaper is made and the respective quota is indicated in the main places where it can be consulted: National Library, General Library of the University of Coimbra, Municipal Public Library of Oporto, Municipal Hemeroteca of Lisbon and Municipal Hemeroteca of Coimbra. In the case of newspapers started in the 19th century, a brief summary is given of that period. In addition to a Foreword to the first edition of Dr. Isabel Nobre Vargues and a Presentation Note by Professor Luís Reis Torgal. a study on the History of the Portuguese Daily Press in the 20th Century and an Onomastic Index are included.

This book describes methods to address wearout/aging degradations in electronic chips and systems, caused by several physical mechanisms at the device level. The authors introduce a novel technique called accelerated active self-healing, which fixes wearout issues by enabling accelerated recovery. Coverage includes recovery theory, experimental results, implementations and applications, across multiple nodes ranging from planar, FD-SOI to FinFET, based on both foundry provided models and predictive models. Presents novel techniques, tested with experiments on real hardware; Discusses circuit and system level wearout recovery implementations, many of these designs are portable and friendly to the standard design flow; Provides circuit-architecture-system infrastructures that enable the accelerated self-healing for future resilient systems; Discusses wearout issues at both transistor and interconnect level, providing solutions that apply to both; Includes coverage of resilient aspects of emerging applications such as IoT.

Did ordinary Italians have a 'Renaissance'? This book presents the first in-depth exploration of how artisans and small local traders experienced the material and cultural Renaissance. Drawing on a rich blend of sixteenth century visual and archival evidence, it examines how individuals and families at artisanal levels (such as shoemakers, barbers, bakers and innkeepers) lived and worked, managed their household economies and consumption, socialised in their homes, and engaged with the arts and the markets for luxury goods. It demonstrates that although the economic and social status of local craftsmen and traders was relatively low, their material possessions show how these men and women who rarely make it into the history books were fully engaged with contemporary culture, cultural customs and the urban way of life.

Living well with along-term health conditionis one of the most challenging experiences one can have. Written based on the most recent research evidence, this straightforward guide to managing both the emotional and physical aspects of chronic illness gives practical suggestions of how those living with a range of conditions can most effectively manage their symptoms whilst still living an active and fulfilling life. Covering a range of topics including self-management of pain, fatigue, stress and lifestyle changes, and adapting to a diagnosis, the book provides an accessible resource that will enable patients and carers to better understand and meet the psychological challenges of long-term condition. By taking a holistic approach, Bogosian empowers the individual to identify their own goals and the pathways to achieve them to reach personal satisfaction, while negotiating the complexities of their condition. This book will be an indispensable guide to those living with a long-term illness, as well as their family members. It will also be of interest to specialist nurses, care consultants, or social workers working with people with a chronic illness.

Wine is a widely consumed beverage due to its unique and pleasant sensory properties. Wine is composed of more than one thousand chemical compounds (e.g., alcohols, esters, acids, terpenoids, phenolic compounds, flavonoids, anthocyanins, minerals, and vitamins, among others) resulting from several chemical and biochemical processes. Microextraction techniques in tandem with high-resolution analytical instruments have been applied by wine researchers to expand the knowledge of wine’s chemical composition with the purposes of improving wine quality, supporting winemaker decisions related to the winemaking process, and guaranteeing the authenticity of wine. As a result, we proposed “Chemical/Instrumental Approaches to the Evaluation of Wine Chemistry” as a topic for a Special Issue in Molecules. This Special Issue aims to provide an update on state-of-the-art extraction procedures (e.g., solid-phase microextraction (SPME)) and analytical tools (e.g., nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), ultra-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS)), emphasizing their use as suitable platforms for the establishment of the chemical composition of wine (volatomic profile, antioxidants, phenolic pattern, and elemental composition, among others). Information related to wine sensorial properties, contaminants, authenticity, and chemometric tools used for data treatment are described in this Issue.
