In the wake of the 2015 landmark ruling Obergefell v. Hodges, in which the Supreme Court ruled that the Constitution guarantees a right to marry for same-sex couples, Republican Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana argued that "The Supreme Court is completely out of control, making laws on their own ... .
