Inaugurated in Florence in 1922, the "Fiorentina Primaverile" was an important exhibition of Italian contemporary art, conceived by the writer Sem Benelli. This exhibition remains unique to Florence because of the number (more than three hundred) and the importance of the participants (from Andreotti and Wildt, to Conti and Bacci; from macchiaioli masters like Lega and Signorini to the young artists of «Valori Plastici») as well as for the moment when it took place: a fruitful period for artistic events, like the great exhibition of the Italian Paintings from the 17th and 18th Centuries. Analyzing the archival documents of the exhibition, that have been unpublished until now, this text aims to reconstruct in a historical and critical manner, for the first time, the "Fiorentina Primaverile", in order to identify the true nature of the exhibition and, most of all, which kind of idea of Italian contemporary art was intended to be offered to the public.

Het blinde geloof in het eigen gelijk blijkt een toenemende bedreiging. Wanneer de gezonde onenigheid overschaduwd wordt door extreem geschreeuw, richt de hoop zich op het genuanceerde debat. Daarom is het belangrijk dat jongeren leren argumenteren: door feit van mening te leren onderscheiden, en door tegenargumenten, drogredenen en retorische technieken te kunnen beoordelen. Deze cursus helpt hen vanuit deze kennis ook om op een integere manier de nodige overtuigingstechnieken toe te passen, zowel in alledaagse huis-tuin-en-keuken-discussies, als bij fundamentelere debatten in onze maatschappij. KATERN is een methode voor het versterken van kerncompetenties die leerkrachten en cursisten kunnen gebruiken in combinatie met handboeken of eigen cursusmateriaal. Om de kostprijs laag te houden, werd gekozen voor een licentiesysteem waarbij je zelf het materiaal kan selecteren en kopiëren op basis van een jaarlijkse licentie. Jelle De Keersmaecker (°1977) is master in de Germaanse Taal- en Letterkunde en begeleidde de voorbije jaren meer dan 2500 jongeren, studenten en volwassenen bij het aanscherpen van hun communicatieve vaardigheden. Hij deed ervaring op in het secundair onderwijs (ASO, TSO & BSO), het volwassenenonderwijs en de lerarenopleiding.

Unique resources to help students navigate this complex terrain of argumentation: "The Debate Situation" offers students a birds-eye view of any given debate (or exchange of arguments between two or more people) organized around three necessary components: arguments, issues, and the proposition. The visual model of the debate situation illustrates how these features work together in guiding a debate and it lays the groundwork for understanding and generating arguments. Easy to Use Standards for Evaluating Arguments combine a prominent argument model (named after logician Stephen Toulmin) with a standards-based approach (the ARG conditions) to test of quality of an argument. The ARG conditions are three questions an advocate should ask of an argument in determining whether or not it is rationally persuasive. These questions are best served by research but don't necessary require it, and thus they provide a useful posture for critically assessing the arguments you encounter. Multiple "Everyday Life" examples with an emphasis on context help students to connect the lessons more fully to their everyday life and encourages them to grapple explicitly with dilemmas arising in different contexts. "Find Your Voice Prompts" focus on choice & empowerment to offer strategies for students to choose which arguments to address and how to address them - empowering students to use argumentation to find their voice. "Build Your Skill Prompts" use objective applications to test how well students have learned the information. They offer a chance to apply the material to additional examples that students can check against the answers in Appendix II. Two application exercises at the end of each chapter encourage students to think critically about the content, discuss their thoughts with their peers, and apply the material to everyday situations.
