Kuri gathers his resources from a variety of sites before combining them in a manner that draws upon tradition of assemblage with a nod to Surrealist montage. The catalogue shows, amongst others, new pieces produced for the exhibition, revealing both the diversity of Kuri's formal approach and the consistency of his underlying themes: notions of commercial and cultural value, consumerism, as well as material and its poetic (mis)use.

"This report provides an assessment of Mexico City's Local Anticorruption System (LACS). Based on international best practices and the OECD Recommendation on Public Integrity, the report reviews the institutional and co-ordination arrangements of the LACS; its regulatory framework; and the tools, programmes and processes necessary for a strategic approach to public integrity. It provides concrete suggestions for enhancing the design and implementation of the system, including cultivating a culture of integrity in government, the private sector and society; improving internal control and risk management; and upgrading public procurement policies to ensure value for money. If effective, the LACS has the potential not only to improve governance, deter corruption and boost citizen's trust in Mexico City, but also to influence the integrity culture in the country as a whole"--Page 4 of cover.

A fully updated edition of the artist's first comprehensive monograph, more than a decade since its original publication. Francis Alÿs examines the patterns of various urban sites before weaving his own fables into their tangled social fabric with wit, sensitivity, and an acutely personal connection to his subject matter. A scene such as a Volkswagen Beetle struggling up a hill or a man pushing a block of ice can carry a message that resonates far beyond the work's simple parameters. As Alÿs puts it, 'Sometimes doing something poetic can become political, and sometimes doing something political can become poetic.'

Francis Alÿs has documented children at play all over the world, from kids playing knucklebones in Nepal to musical chairs in Mexico or flying kites in Afghanistan. He filmed in peaceful towns and villages, but also against the backdrop of conflict and tension, such as at a Yezidi refugee camp in Iraq or in besieged Kabul. This book shows the ways children everywhere pass the time and create their own fantasies in games and leisure, whether skipping stones, sandcastles, marbles, or hopscotch. The project is presented here as a series for the first time, with contributions by journalist Lorna Scott Fox, filmmaker David MacDougall, and art critic and curator Cuauhtémoc Medina.

City dwellers are direct agents in the making of cities; yet how do they actually constitute and sustain the urban and its forms? How do they practice the urban and through this practice shape the city-in-the-making that emerges along with them on the backs of their working bodies? City Making re-thinks the urban from this perspective of corporeal making and with regard to the cityness that it bears. It delves into the thick of life in the periphery of Mexico City, uncovering the everyday actions and efforts that practitioners of space accomplish when building houses, creating jobs and putting themselves to work as infrastructure. How are consequential conjunctions, how is access to, and presence in the city actively grown? And what does such thinking the city as a verb, as citying, imply for urban planning?
