Une étude exploratoire réalisée en 2019 ayant pour objectif de tenter de déterminer si il existe des Hot Spots pour les différents types de morts suspectes. A savoir, si il y a des types de morts suspectes représentés dans un certain territoire de compétence d’un des commissariat de la zone de police de Liège. Pour ce faire, la population d’étude envisagée reprend l’intégralité des cas de morts suspectes survenues dans la zone de police de Liège durant la période allant du premier janvier 2013 au 31 décembre 2017 et pour lesquels un médecin légiste a été requis par un magistrat. Dans l’intérêt de la présente, les morts suspectes seront également discriminées selon les causes du décès et les circonstances de celles-ci. Ces données sont présentées par fréquence et localisation d’occurrence par type de morts suspectes. Cette étude fait ressortir qu’il existe bel et bien une surreprésentation de certaines causes de décès dans différents quartiers de la zone de police de Liège. Cette localisation particulière s’explique notamment par les infrastructures présentes sur le territoire envisagé. D’après les données récoltées dans le cadre de cette recherche, il semble qu’il existerait bel et bien un lien entre le type de mort suspecte envisagée et le lieu d’occurrence de celle-ci. Ce constat mériterait d’être approfondi dans des études ultérieures afin de tenter de proposer certains programmes de prévention tendant à réduire le phénomène.
