Research Methods in Radiology provides concise, practical insights on how to design clinical and experimental studies in diagnostic imaging. This unique resource encompasses contributions from leaders in academic radiology as well as top epidemiologists, biostatisticians, and librarians with vast multidisciplinary and radiology research experience. The material reflects years of expertise teaching core biostatistics in radiology principles to residents, fellows, radiologists, and epidemiologists. Given the vast amount of published information on research methodology and statistics in radiology, the authors' goal was to write a high-yield review and study tool rather than a comprehensive book. Key topics are succinctly addressed in each chapter, including measurements in radiology; decision analysis in radiology; and systemic reviews, evidence-based imaging, and knowledge translation. Online exercises related to each topic enable residents to prepare for radiology board examinations and research radiologists to apply knowledge to clinical studies.

This fully revised second edition of Top 3 Differentials in Radiology provides a comprehensive core exam review of frequently encountered imaging gamuts in all major radiological subspecialties. Author William O'Brien utilizes the widely acclaimed format of his first edition, with 330 new and updated radiology cases organized into 12 core subspecialty sections. The last section, "Roentgen Classics," includes cases from each of the previous core sections, with imaging findings characteristic of a single diagnosis. This book reflects content included in the current radiology board examinations with accurate and concise descriptions of key differentials, which are integral to acing the boards. Each case is formatted as a two-page unit. The left page features clinical images, succinctly captioned radiographic findings, and pertinent clinical history. The right page includes the key imaging gamut, differential diagnoses rank-ordered by the Top 3, additional diagnostic considerations, and clinical pearls.

Almost 50 years have passed since the famous papers of Hugo Rietveld from the late sixties where he describes a method for the refinement of crystal structures from neutron powder diffraction data. Soon after, the potential of the method for laboratory X-ray powder diffraction was discovered. Although the method is now widely accepted, there are still many pitfalls in the theoretical understanding and in practical daily use. This book closes the gap with a theoretical introduction for each chapter followed by a practical approach. The flexible macro type language of the Topas Rietveld software can be considered as the defacto standard.

X-RIS is active in the development and supply of innovative solutions in digital radiology for the industry and the security. X-RIS provides user-friendly and pragmatic solutions that fit at best the application needs. The company is especially known in developing small and portable X-ray generators. The present project aims at developing a new DC power supply for an X-ray generator. The DC supply is supposed to be as small as possible with an operating output voltage of 400 or 600 kV respectively having an output current of 0.25 and 0.15 mA. The size of systems working at a high voltage up to 400 kV is most of the time a few meters in height. Designing a generator that has a size of some centimeters is thus the main purpose. To reach this objective, two kinds of circuits based on the Cockroft-Walton generator are studied: the half-wave and the full-wave multiplier. Through several simulations, the main features of both of them applied in particular cases of this project are exposed. Furthermore, the final choices about the circuit design and the components are detailed. It will be shown through some tests the ways of decreasing the magnitude of the electric field in this high voltage generator. The processes of building up and testing the generator are also explained. Various insulating materials with their advantages and disadvantages are proposed. Finally, the tests suggest to follow some new perspectives that are also highlighted.
