Drone technologies have constantly been developing for over 100 years. The latest models exhibit a previously unseen set of specifications available to the end users. The collective effort of distinguished international researchers, within the field of drone technologies, has been incorporated into this textbook suitable to the broader audience. This book focuses on small flying drones and their applications in conducting geographic surveys. Scholars and professionals will discover the potential of this tool, and hopefully develop a conceptual and methodological framework for doing the following things: a) Translate their data acquisition needs into specifications. (b) Use the developed specifications to choose the best accessible configuration for their drones, and (c) Design and organize effective and low-cost field deployment and flight operations by integrating technical aspects with regulatory and research requirements. De bijdragen in dit boek staan stil bij de verschillende nieuwe risico’s die het klassieke aansprakelijkheids- en verzekeringsrecht uitdagen. De analyse van deze nieuwe risico’s ten gevolge van technologische innovaties of maatschappelijke evoluties is zonder meer verfrissend. Het toont aan dat deze rechtsdomeinen voortdurend in beweging zijn en mee evolueren met de maatschappelijke ontwikkelingen. In dit boek wordt vooreerst aandacht besteed aan de talrijke aansprakelijkheidsvragen die rijzen bij het gebruik van zelfrijdende auto’s. Vervolgens wordt het juridische kader in verband met drones geschetst, eveneens een nieuw risico, waarvoor de wetgever een verzekeringsplicht invoerde. Nadien worden talrijke verzekeringsvragen rond cyberrisico’s geanalyseerd, waarna nagegaan wordt of het huidige wettelijke kader inzake de verzekering voor schade te wijten aan terrorisme nog wel voldoende bescherming biedt. Tot slot wordt nagegaan of het wenselijk en mogelijk is dat echtgenoten zich verzekeren tegen de gevolgen van een echtscheiding. De laatste bijdrage werpt een blik op de toekomst van de verzekeringsmarkt en licht de band tussen de economie en het verzekeringsrecht toe
