People are using the future to search for better ways to achieve sustainability, inclusiveness, prosperity, well-being and peace. In addition, the way the future is understood and used is changing in almost all domains, from social science to daily life.This book presents the results of significant research undertaken by UNESCO with a number of partners to detect and define the theory and practice of anticipation around the world today. It uses the concept of 'Futures Literacy' as a tool to define the understanding of anticipatory systems and processes - also known as the Discipline of Anticipation. Das Thema-Bulletin wurde zwischen 2001 und 2005 vom Verein Forum Helveticum herausgegeben. Das Forum Helveticum wurde 1968 gegründet und beschäftigt sich mit diversen Fragestellungen in den Bereichen Gesellschaft, Politik, Wirtschaft und Kultur. Bisher sind in dieser Reihe fünf Bände erschienen. Die Thema-Bulletins dienen der Förderung des Dialogs zu Themen des öffentlichen Lebens. Die Kurzbeiträge zu aktuellen gesellschaftlichen Fragen stammen mehrheitlich aus den Mitgliederorganisationen des Forum Helveticum. Das Bulletin ermöglicht somit einen Ideen- und Gedankenaustausch zwischen Vertretern unterschiedlichster Bereiche der Schweizer Gesellschaft.

Au deuxième livre de La Table d’or, Maïer écrivait : « Les problèmes et énigmes échangés entre Salomon et Hiram, roi de Tyr, furent sans aucun doute empruntés aux trésors très occultes de la nature, c’est-à-dire aux choses très précieuses cachées dans la nature, qu’il n’est pas utile de divulguer. Aucune des énigmes de ce genre, telles que Salomon et Hiram en proposèrent ou résolurent entre eux, ne fut connue de la foule, et donc ne put être mise par écrit comme on le fit avec l’énigme de Samson. » Dans La Semaine philosophique, Maïer se décide à les divulguer. Il imagine une discussion qui s’étend sur six jours, entre Salomon, Hiram et la célèbre reine de Saba. Les protagonistes proposent et résolvent entre eux un total de 319 énigmes, réparties en six livres, chacun se rapportant à une des six étapes de la création mosaïque : le ciel et les éléments ; les météores et les mixtes imparfaits ; les fossiles de la terre ; les végétaux ; les animaux ; l’homme.
