"A bold challenge to our obsession with efficiency--and a new understanding of how to benefit from the powerful potential of serendipity Algorithms, multitasking, sharing economy, life hacks: our culture can't get enough of efficiency. One of the great promises of the Internet and big data revolutions is the idea that we can improve the processes and routines of our work and personal lives to get more done in less time than ever before. There is no doubt that we're performing at higher scales and going faster than ever, but what if we're headed in the wrong direction? The Efficiency Paradox questions our ingrained assumptions about efficiency, persuasively showing how relying on the algorithms of platforms can in fact lead to wasted efforts, missed opportunities, and above all an inability to break out of established patterns. Edward Tenner offers a smarter way to think about efficiency, showing how we can combine artificial intelligence and our own intuition, leaving ourselves and our institutions open to learning from the random and unexpected"-- "bold challenge to our obsession with efficiency--and a new understanding of how to benefit from the powerful potential of serendipity"--

This monograph raises issues concerning definitions and types of enterprises' efficiency as well as their restructuring processes. It focuses on restructuring and how that process should be carried out in a company to be satisfactory. Research was prepared using science methods like literature overviews, analyses of primary data, and comparative analyses before and after the restructuring process. What is more, this book finds answers to questions concerning which decisions should be taken and which instruments should be used to make restructuring effective and successful. In research, the example of business units which undergo the restructuring process is utilized. The case study shows the whole restructuring process from the recognition of a corporation's financial distress to the decision of restructuring and the scheme of restructuring to the final effect as a stable corporate situation. Research emphasizes that the restructuring process is multidimensional, radical, and could be connected with all departments within a corporation. This book indicates the effects of the restructuring process and draws conclusions based on said effects -- Provided by the publisher.

According to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), in the two decades preceding 2014 two member countries, Italy and Spain, experienced productivity decline, while just four member countries, Korea, Ireland, Finland, and the United States, managed to achieve rates of productivity growth in excess of one percent per annum. Rates of productivity growth slowed following the global financial crisis in nearly all member countries. These diverse national productivity performances are aggregates of the productivity performances of individual producers, which are influenced by organizational factors such as the quality of management practices and the adoption of new technologies, and also by institutional features such as the stringency of product and labor market and environmental regulations. At the level of the individual producer, productivity has an important impact on financial performance and survival, while at the aggregate level, productivity is a critical determinant of national well-being. The essays collected in the Handbook provide significant contributions to our understanding of the causes and consequences of productivity growth. Part I contains the editors’ introduction. The chapters in Part II address a variety of measurement issues, from both analytical and practical perspectives. The chapters in Part III address a wide range of productivity issues at the level of the individual producer or industry. The chapters in Part IV address a range of aggregate productivity issues, both domestic and international. -- from website
