Het Departement Cultuur, Jeugd en Media ging de jongste jaren door een proces van constructie, deconstructie, fusies en herstructureringen. Ook de inkanteling van de persoonsgebonden materies vanuit de provincies had een ingrijpende impact op de werking van het departement. Daarnaast namen we ons bij de herstructurering van het departement voor om de beleidsvoorbereidende capaciteit onder de vorm van datavergaring, monitoring, gecoördineerde kennisontwikkeling met de sector en wetenschappelijk onderzoekswerk grondig te versterken en samen te brengen. De optelsom hiervan leidde naar het idee om de vruchtbare gesprekken en ideeën te bundelen in een publicatie, waarin we peilen naar de tendensen die ons domein de komende jaren ingrijpend kunnen beïnvloeden en naar aandachtspunten voor toekomstige beleidsmakers. Het uitgangspunt was niet zozeer het formuleren van stringente lijnen maar de durf om vrij te denken, te dialogeren en vooral veel vragen te stellen

The Archive of the City of Vienna keeps three folio-volumes of a manuscript in conservation of her archive, which in common was marked as “Wiener Testamentsbücher” (Viennese Last Wills-Register). The source, comprising the period of 1395 to 1430, at this time was named “Stadtbuch”, and this appoints the character of such registers, which served for registration of legal transactions in urban space. In total the “Stadtbuch” embodies more than 4.500 registrations, in most cases last wills (“Geschäfte”), but also a lot of registrations about transactions concerning private law as well as matters of pubic law.

This Special Issue is related to the 18th biannual International Gap Junction Conference (IGJC2017), which has been held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Glasgow and hosted by Glasgow Caledonian University, 29 July-3 August, 2017. This Special Issue, entitled "Interplay of Connexins and Pannexins in Tissue Function and Disease", focuses on six key state-of-the-art reviews, written by leads in the field on cutting edge topics and the latest developments in clinical trials in diverse organ systems.
