This book focuses on the human and societal aspects of sustainable development. Three major perspectives are considered: governance and its influence on sustainable development; urban environments and their broader human and environmental impacts; and disaster management. Each of these elements is critical in considering the current and prospective development of societies towards a sustainable future in which human security is guaranteed. From sending imams abroad to financing mosques and Islamic associations, home states play a key role in governing Islam in Western Europe.? Drawing on over one hundred interviews and years of fieldwork, this book employs a comparative perspective that analyzes the foreign religious activities of the two home states with the largest diaspora populations in Europe: Turkey and Morocco. The research shows how these states use religion to promote ties with their citizens and their descendants abroad while also seeking to maintain control over the forms of Islam that develop within the diaspora. The author identifies and explains the internal and foreign political interests that have motivated state actors on both sides of the Mediterranean, ultimately arguing that interstate cooperation in religious affairs has and will continue to have a structural influence on the evolution of Islam in Western Europe.

Les implications du numérique dans la vie des affaires sont nombreuses : droit des contrats, propriété intellectuelle, respect des libertés fondamentales et en particulier protection des données personnelles, etc. Le « droit du numérique » veut en proposer une approche claire et didactique, centrée sur les préoccupations du praticien, en le guidant à travers les enseignements de la loi, de la jurisprudence et de la doctrine. L’ouvrage aborde en premier lieu les contrats « informatiques », sous l’angle du droit privé et des relations entre professionnels. Il s’agit d’assister le praticien confronté à un projet d’informatisation ou, plus largement, au contrat comme matrice de la distribution des produits, services et autres « contenus numériques ». L’étude devrait lui permettre de mieux maîtriser les enjeux de négociation et de rédaction de ces conventions. Les règles du droit d’auteur et plus largement des droits intellectuels dans l’environnement numérique retiennent ensuite l’attention. La protection des innovations et des actifs immatériels, y compris les informations confidentielles et les secrets d’affaires, apparaissent en effet comme un enjeu majeur et stratégique pour toutes les entreprises. Un large pan de l’étude est ensuite consacré au droit de la protection des données et plus particulièrement au règlement européen n° 2016/679, dit « GDPR », qui entre en application le 25 mai 2018. Celui-ci est resitué dans son contexte et fait l’objet d’un commentaire systématique et approfondi, à la lumière des premiers commentaires doctrinaux ainsi que des lignes directrices les plus récentes formulées par les régulateurs belge et européen. L’ouvrage se clôt par l’analyse de certaines questions choisies comme la responsabilité des intermédiaires ou les nouvelles règles en matière de sécurité informatique. Même si l’informatique et l’intelligence artificielle risquent de profondément transformer les métiers du droit, il reste aujourd’hui beaucoup de travail pour le juriste qui doit appréhender ces bouleversements et accompagner la transformation digitale des entreprises et des organisations en général.
