It's already impossible to imagine energy-efficient construction without photovoltaics and solar thermal. Yet, the EU-wide introduction of low energy standards for new buildings stipulates that buildings must meet their energy needs in whole or in part from the sun by 2021 at the latest. The integration of solar systems into buildings is no longer just a technical matter, but also a structural and aesthetic challenge. This book provides the necessary expertise for this purpose. In addition to basic physics and technological developments in photovoltaics and solar thermal, the publication offers abundant advice from architects on how to successfully integrate solar systems into buildings. A number of chapters address the economical and ecological deployment of solar technology as well as issues of building laws and the preservation of listed buildings.Illustrated and expanded by numerous photos and detailed project documentation, "Building-Integrated Solar Technology" not only demonstrates the tremendous variety of construction tasks and integration possibilities, but also shows that self-sustaining buildings in terms of energy can also become a powerful architectural and cultural asset.

This book mainly focuses on the solar energy conversion with the nanomaterials. It describes the applications on two dimensional carbon nanomaterials: graphene and graphdiyne. Also, works on conductive polymer and bio-inspired material is included. The work described here is the first few reports on the applications of graphene, which becomes one of the hottest materials nowadays. This work also proves and studies the charge transfer between the semi-conductor and graphene interface, which is benefit to the applications in solar cells and photocatalysis. At the same time, method to synthesize and assemble the given nanomaterials (TiO2 nanosheets, gold nanoparticles, graphene, PS-PAA, PANI) is detailed, which is easier to the readers to repeat the experiments.

This book addresses the evaluation and optimization of key elements in concentrating solar thermal (CST) technologies, such as solar receivers and working fluids, using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling. It discusses both general and specific aspects, explaining the methodology used to analyze and evaluate the influence of different parameters on the facility performance. This information provides the basis for optimizing design and operating conditions in CST systems.
