Abstract

"What happens in psychotherapy and when it is helpful? With twelve case reports covering the most frequent disorders requiring psychotherapy, the prominent psychiatrist, psychotherapist, and psychoanalyst Rainer Matthias Holm-Hadulla shows how success can be achieved with the flexible integration of different psychotherapeutic methods. The focus is on individuals in their social context, with their various biographies, life situations, and creative potentialities. The narratives revolve around an 'ABCDE' model and highlight the following aspects of modern psychotherapy: therapeutic alliance, behaviour change, cognitive reflection, psychodynamic analysis, and existential understanding."--Provided by publisher.

Abstract

Mental imagery refers to the mental simulation or recreation of perceptual experience across different sensory modalities. The exploration of mental imagery represents a new and important area within clinical psychology, but arguably one still in its infancy. While mental imagery has featured prominently in recent theoretical accounts of disorders as diverse as post-traumatic stress disorder, phobia, body dysmorphic disorder, mood disorders, and psychosis, there remains an insufficiently strong theoretical and methodological foundation to enable comparison of the role of imagery across such different disorders. The current research topic presents a diverse range of cutting-edge papers focusing on investigating the underlying mechanisms and/or treatment interventions associated with mental imagery in clinical disorders, with the goal of helping establish those common elements most clinically relevant when investigating mental imagery. The research topic comprises fifteen articles drawn from the fields of psychiatry, psychology, and neuroscience. This is a unique collection of articles that combine different perspectives from the field of clinical psychology with more diverse perspectives drawn from the wider literature on mental imagery. The original research studies and theoretical articles presented are organised around four main chapters that cover imagery and eye movements, imagery and craving, imagery and autobiographical memory, and imagery and clinical disorders. We believe that the range of submissions presented in the research topic make a strong contribution to helping establish a theoretical and methodological foundation that can enable the effective study of imagery across different disorders and domains.

Abstract

The author presents a new paradigm for GIM theory, research, and practicee"one that adds new dimensions yet retains the integrity of the method. The main focus is on how both client and therapist can derive meaning out of the narratives that emerge in the GIM session. The paradigm consists of a new procedural component to the session, the use of cognitive concepts to analyze the narratives created by the client, and a method of assessment and evaluation. The new procedure is the eoere-descriptive technique,e wherein the client writes a description of the GIM experience at home, after having time to reflect upon potential meanings. The narratives that the client develops from all the nonverbal and verbal materials from each session are then analyzed using cognitive concepts, such as ego resilience, emotional regulation, and cognitive dimensions such as abstraction, integration, coherence and so forth. Finally, the book concludes with easy to use forms for charting the cliente(tm)s progress, not only in discovering greater meaning in life, but also in learning how to use and integrate the meaning-making process.

Abstract

Imagination provides a window into the world of what is possible helping us to navigate in times of uncertainty and come up with new ideas. Everyone has an imagination but most do not use our imaginations to their fullest potential or apply our imaginations to the challenges that we face. Our most important ideas and biggest ambitions never turn in to reality. In this timely new book, Brian Reich shows us that imagination is one of the most powerful forces in shaping and motivating behaviour to make real change. He explains how the most creative thinkers, forward-looking entrepreneurs, and influential change agents in every sector of our society harness the power of their imaginations to achieve their goals. He outlines how the best leaders also show others how to use their imaginations to expand their individual and collective potential. The Imagination Gap helps leaders in every sector apply their imaginations to explore new, creative approaches to help them survive and thrive. The book features in-depth interviews and examples from a range of industries and settings with guidance and steps on how to stop thinking the way you "should" and start making extraordinary things happen.

Abstract

3D models are extracted from at least 2 stereo views of area of interest and they constitute an indispensable data in many surveying tasks and applications. Since the beginning of photogrammetry, aerial imagery was mostly used in precise topographic mapping applications mainly due to its (very-)high ground resolution. With the affordable (very-)high resolution and stereoscopic satellite imagery that provides larger spatial coverage, it is also possible to collect very large-scale 3D data from satellite products. This research aimed to assess geometric quality of DSMs and orthomosaïc products from high spatial resolution aerial and Pleaides satellite stereo-photogrammetry. We aim to demonstrate that, using MICMAC software, photogrammetric products from aerial images taken by UltraCam Falcon camera of Vexcel Imaging and Pleiades images are equivalent in both geometric and radiometric quality and that their structural realism and consistency in urban and hilly areas is similar. The selected study area is thus the urban and peri-urban Western zone of Liège.Verification of this hypothesis is based on photogrammetric products from 48 aerial images acquired in a period from 12th to 15th April 2015 and one stereo-pair of Pleiades images taken on 13th March 2015. Using GCPs surveyed in the study area, geometric quality of Vexcel DSM and orthoimages were found more accurate than Pleiades products.
