Depuis la fin des années 1960, le peintre Jean Glibert (Bruxelles, 1938) travaille dans une logique de création proche de celle de l'architecte. Depuis la mise au point des projets jusqu'à leur réception, son travail en revêt les caractéristiques majeures. Comme un architecte, il intervient sur l'image constructive de l'environnement. Ses travaux mettent en scène des tractions, des poussées, des tensions, des rythmes... La forme et la matière ne sont pas autonomes ; la couleur n'est pas pensée comme un revêtement ; la lumière est bien plus qu'un éclairage : forme, matière, couleur, lumière ont toujours un rôle dans l'organisation et les qualités sensibles de l'espace. JEAN GLIBERT. Peintre en bâtiment est davantage qu'une rétrospective. Ses concepteurs ont étroitement collaboré avec l'artiste pour définir le dispositif scénographique mais aussi des interventions plastiques qui dialoguent avec l'architecture du Palais de Beaux-Arts dessiné par Victor Horta. L'exposition abordera également le travail méthodologique de Jean Glibert, illustré par des collectes d'objets et des séries de photographies qui seront présentées à cette occasion.

The Brussels-based OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen was set up in 2002 by Kersten Geers (born 1975) and David Van Severen (born 1978), and is celebrated for its idiosyncratic and highly theoretical approach, as instanced by the widely acclaimed Belgian Pavilion for the 2008 Architectural Biennial in Venice. The team brings architecture back to the essentials: with a limited set of basic rules a framework is created within which life in all its complexity can be played out. This massive three-volume publication, the most comprehensive survey of their work yet published, and the only one in print (previous monographs now being rare and expensive), reproduces models, drawings and perspectives created by the architects along with works of art that are related to the spirit and language of this internationally esteemed firm.

Pol Bury (1922-2005) was a Belgian painter, sculptor, jewellery designer, writer and graphic artist. He started out as a surrealist painter under the influence of René Magritte and Yves Tanguy, and later exhibited with the Jeune Peinture Belge group and the Cobra movement. Around 1953, however, Bury became fascinated by contemporary sculpture, inspired by Alexander Calder, and became one of the protagonists of kinetic art. Characteristic of his work is the extreme slowness of the often unpredictable movements that take place in his sculptures and objects. For the general public Bury is probably best known for his fountains and sculptures in public spaces.
