Au moment de la Conférence sur le Climat (COP21), ce livre démontre que la forêt joue un rôle primordial dans la lutte contre le changement climatique. La forêt séquestre chaque année une partie des émissions anthropiques de gaz à effet de serre (environ 12 % en France) et atténue ainsi les effets du changement climatique.
