The Yearbook of Chinese Theology is an international, ecumenical and fully peer-reviewed series on Chinese theology in English. Its main focus is on interdisciplinary, contextual, and cross-cultural studies in the areas of Biblical Studies, Church History, Systematic Theology, Practical Theology, and Comparative Religions. The Yearbook also features articles exploring wider issues in church and society. The Yearbook of Chinese Theology thus meets the growing demand for the study of the new academic discipline of Christianity in a Chinese context. In this first volume, harmony and Sinicization of Christianity in China are studied from a systematic theological viewpoint. Confucian Ruism and the Human-God relationship are investigated from a practical theological perspective. Henrys Texte aus den Jahren 1943 bis 2001 zeigen, dass die Affinität zwischen phänomenologischem und christlichem Denken nicht nur von Anfang an in seinen Überlegungen präsent ist, sondern er eine Grundlegung der religiösen Erfahrung schlechthin intendierte. Die Buchbeiträge und Vorträge aus über fünfzig Jahren Forschungsarbeit dokumentieren daher, dass von einer »theologischen Wende« im Spätwerk Henrys nicht gesprochen werden kann. Vielmehr radikalisierte sich die Frage nach der ursprünglichen Phänomenalisierung immer stärker unter dem reduktiven Selbstanspruch der Lebensphänomenologie, um in einem vorzeitigen Leben, welches zugleich originäre Inkarnation ist, die Bestimmung jeder religio als "Seligkeit" selbst auszumachen. Durch die chronologische Anordnung der Texte wird sichtbar, dass Henry in ständigem Dialog mit den großen Religionsphilosophien der Tradition voranschreitet, wie der Bezug auf Spinoza, Fichte, Meister Eckhart, Anselm von Canterbury, Leibniz, Hegel, aber auch auf die Kirchenväter Irenäus und Augustinus sowie auf das Johannes- Evangelium als grundsätzliche Referenz für eine religiös phänomenologische "Ur-Intelligibilität" zeigen. Damit wird nicht zuletzt der "methodische Atheismus", welchen Husserl der klassischen Phänomenologie als eidetisch-intentionale Einschränkung auferlegt hatte, aufgesprengt.
