Le vestibule est la partie de l'oreille interne destinée à l'équilibration. La rééducation vestibulaire est de plus en plus prescrite car elle obtient des résultats remarquables dans ses trois champs d'intervention : 1. par des manoeuvres thérapeutiques dans les vertiges positionnels paroxystiques bénins, appelés communément ' maladie des cristaux d'oreille ', ou VPPB ; 2. par une véritable rééducation à base d'exercices spécifiques dans les névrites vestibulaires et autres déafférentations vestibulaires ; 3. dans la plupart des vertiges, quand le bilan fonctionnel l'indique. Cet ouvrage, rédigé par un spécialiste du traitement des vertiges (J.-P. Sauvage) et par une kinésithérapeute spécialiste en rééducation de patients atteints de pathologies vestibulaires (H. Grenier), est un guide pratique à destination des ORL et des kinésithérapeutes qui ont mission, pour les uns, de diagnostiquer et d'évaluer la pathologie, pour les autres, de la prendre en charge et de la rééduquer. Les auteurs s'attachent à montrer la complémentarité des deux démarches dans une approche résolument pluridisciplinaire. Après quelques rappels anatomiques et physiologiques, les auteurs procèdent à l'étude et à la description des principales pathologies vestibulaires et des pratiques de rééducation associées. Les textes explicatifs sont synthétiques, illustrés par de nombreuses iconographies, des fiches-bilan et des cas cliniques.
