This book offers an in-depth analysis of the Brazilian sugarcane complex with a special focus on technological advances that promote sustainable development. It first examines the question why sugarcane-based ethanol from Brazil is considered a superior alternative to fossil fuel compared to other biofuels produced on an industrial scale, and subsequently analyzes the most dynamic areas within the sugarcane sector with regard to relevant actors, technologies and markets in order to determine if the sector can be considered an innovation system. The empirical research presented here is based on multiple research methods and derives its data from interviews with Brazilian experts of the sugarcane sector and by a thorough literature review. The book will be of special interest to researchers and practitioners interested in understanding the key mechanisms in successful innovation systems that promote a transition towards sustainable development and mobility.

In partially automated driver assistance systems it remains to the drivers to monitor the system's behavior on errors and to intervene in critical situations. It is the goal of the current research to further analyze the advantages and disadvantages of such systems. Within the exemplary situational context of partially automation in traffic-jams, new ways of interaction to enhance the drivers' ability to react to critical situations are derived and evaluated.

Trente ans après la loi Veil, l'IVG reste mal connue dans ses implications psychologiques, en particulier à moyen et long terme. La fréquence, stable, et les conséquences d'un tel acte dans l'intime féminin et familial continuent d'en faire un enjeu de santé publique. Trois ans après les modifications de son cadre par la loi du 4 juillet 2001, la constation, en remplacement de médecine générale, d'une carence d'accompagnement pendant et après l'avortement vis-à-vis d'une fréquente douleur morale variablement déniée, a motivé une tentative d'étude de ses causes, de leurs effets chronologiques, et du moyen d'y remédier. Outre une revue de la littérature relative à l'IVG, aboutissant à la proposition d'une classification à visée pratique s'appuyant sur la théorie psychanalytique, l'auteur a effectué une enquête auprès de 177 femmes strasbourgeoises au décours immédiat d'IVG médicamenteuses, complétée par des entretiens avec des patientes et divers acteurs de santé impliqués. Celle-ci met en évidence la fréquente persistance d'une détresse psychologique après l'IVG, et liée en partie à elle. Ce travail vise à promouvoir la prévention sur l'IVG, et l'aide à ce deuil si particulier.
