Si può abbandonare del tutto la propria lingua madre nella formazione universitaria? E giusto, è possibile? Il tema ha animato un dibattito, ancora in corso, dopo l'annuncio dato dal rettore del Politecnico di Milano di voler avviare dal 2013 i corsi magistrali e dottorali in inglese, escludendo l'italiano dalla formazione superiore di ingegneri e architetti. Diverse sono state le reazioni e l'Accademia della Crusca ha cercato di costruire un momento di dialogo e confronto sul tema che, oltre a essere di grande attualità, coinvolge svariati ambiti: politico, giuridico, culturale e sociale. Sono stati invitati a partecipare rappresentanti dell'università, del mondo giuridico, scientifico e linguistico, accademici della Crusca stranieri, scrittori e altri studiosi e personalità di molteplici settori culturali. The volume brings together papers related to different aspects of classroom-oriented research on teaching and learning second and foreign languages that have been authored by specialists from Poland and abroad. The first part contains contributions dealing with individual variation in the language classroom, in particular age, anxiety, beliefs and language learning strategies. The second part deals with various facets of teachers’ behaviors in the classroom, focusing in particular on classroom communication and the use of action research in teacher training. The third part includes papers devoted to various instructional practices, such as the use of new technologies, the development of intercultural competence, assessment or combining content and language.
