In her works, young Finnish photographer Nelli Palomäki (*1981 in Forssa), a graduate of the renowned Aalto University School of Art, Design, and Architecture in Helsinki, searches for the lost magic that was once inherent in photography. Just fifty years ago, it was still something special to have your picture taken. People put on their best clothes and gazed, unmoving and serious, into the camera. Palomäki's timeless black-and-white portraits of children and young adults reveal the fragility of the moment shared with her subject. Her photograhps deal with growing up, memory and mortality, denying it yet photographs are there to prove our inexcapable destiny. The idea of getting older is heartrending.

La peinture de Zao Wou-ki s'inscrit dans la lignée immémoriale de l'art chinois parce qu'au lieu de la suivre, elle y apporte les interrogations sur le sens de l'art, plus exactement sur le sens de la peinture.

""He again tops the crowd--he surpasses himself, the old iron brought to the white heat of simplicity."" That's what Robert Lowell said of the poetry of Stanley Kunitz (1905-2006) and his evolving artistry. The interviews and conversations contained in this volume derive from four decades of Kunitz's distinguished career. They touch on aesthetic motifs in his poetry, the roots of his work, his friendships in the sister arts of painting and sculpture, his interactions with Lowell and Theodore Roethke, and his comments on a host of poets: John Keats, Walt Whitman, Randall Jarrell, Wallace Ste

As research progresses, it enables multi-robot systems to be used in more and more complex and dynamic scenarios. Hence, the question arises how different modelling and reasoning paradigms can be utilised to describe the intended behaviour of a team and execute it in a robust and adaptive manner. Hendrik Skubch presents a solution, ALICA (A Language for Interactive Cooperative Agents) which combines modelling techniques drawn from different paradigms in an integrative fashion. Hierarchies of finite state machines are used to structure the behaviour of the team such that temporal and causal relationships can be expressed. Utility functions weigh different options against each other and assign agents to different tasks. Finally, non-linear constraint satisfaction and optimisation problems are integrated, allowing for complex cooperative behaviour to be specified in a concise, theoretically well-founded manner. Contents · Task Allocation · Distributed Constraint Solving · Multi-Robot Systems · Cooperation · Plan Execution · Behaviour Modelling Target Groups Researchers and students in the fields of computer science, robotics, and artificial intelligence; artificial intelligence programmer. Author Dr. Hendrik Skubch completed his doctoral degree under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Kurt Geihs at the Distributed Systems Group at the University of Kassel.

This book is a thorough treatise concerned with coherence and its significance in legal reasoning. The individual chapters present the topic from the general philosophical perspective, the perspective of legal-theory as well as the viewpoint of cognitive sciences and the research on artificial intelligence and law. As it has turned out the interchange of knowledge among these disciplines is very fruitful for each of them, providing mutual inspiration and increasing understanding of a given topic. This book is a unique resource for anyone interested in the concept of coherence and the role it plays in reasoning. As this book captures important contemporary issues concerning the ongoing discussion on coherence and law, those interested in legal reasoning should find it particularly helpful. By presenting such a broad scope of views and methods on approaching the issue of coherence we hope to promote the general interest in the topic as well as the academic research that centers around coherence and law. .
