A unique collaboration between Historic Environment Scotland and the University of Glasgow has resulted in this lavishly illustrated book about the University’s architectural history. For over 560 years the University has acted as a remarkable patron of architecture. Employing the finest architects, engineers and craftsmen of the day to realise its ambitions, Building Knowledge: An Architectural History of the University of Glasgow unearths the extraordinary record of these partnerships. Appealing to a wide audience this is a prestigious publication which celebrates some of Glasgow's most recognisable buildings. Much of the material in this fascinating book has never been published before, showcasing the results of a 2011-12 partnership project with the University of Glasgow to review of all the listed and non-listed buildings on their Gilmorehill campus. As a result of the project there were 3 new listings and 48 existing listed building records were updated, providing more information about why these buildings are so special.
