L'élection du 4 septembre 2012 est à plusieurs points de vue exceptionnelle. Le Parti québécois signe sa cinquième victoire, sous la direction d'une femme - la première à occuper la plus haute fonction de la province - et dans un contexte marqué par des allégations de corruption à l'égard du gouvernement libéral sortant. "La " question du Québec " se pose dès l'adoption de l'Acte de l'Amérique du Nord britannique en 1867 et n'a jamais cessé depuis de mobiliser le débat constitutionnel au Canada. Réactivée pendant la Révolution tranquille dans les années 1960, elle n'a pas trouvé la réponse attendue. Depuis le rapatriement de la Constitution canadienne initié en 1981 et mis en œuvre en 1982 par Pierre Elliott Trudeau, l'imbroglio constitutionnel est dans l'impasse. L'esprit de réconciliation ou de compromis s'évanouit suite à l'échec de l'Accord du lac Meech (1990) et de l'Accord de Charlottetown (1992). Depuis deux décennies le dialogue de sourds entre le Québec et le Canada semble s'être fossilisé. Est-il encore envisageable de trouver une solution acceptable pour dépasser la dualité fondatrice du Canada? L'objectif de ce livre est d'explorer les termes du débat social, politique et constitutionnel autour de la " question du Québec " telle que celle-ci a été posée par les acteurs sociaux et politiques tant au Québec que dans le reste du Canada.
