The "Dizionario degli editori, tipografi, librai itineranti in Italia tra Quattrocento e Seicento" contains over 600 entries from a group of nearly seventy contributors, some of whom are very young scholars, with the coordination and support of Rosa Marisa Borraccini, Giuseppe Lipari, Carmela Reale, Marco Santoro and Giancarlo Volpato. The entries show a consistently high level of accuracy ; those on the seventeenth century are especially valuable, since this century has enjoyed less scholarly attention than preceding ones. The dictionary sequence is completed by a chronological index, an index for places of activity, as well as a general index for names. Overall, this biographical survey, though focussed, as we have said, exclusively on those figures in the book trade who operated in at least two different places over the course of their careers, is the most up-to-date reference tool presently available in the field.
