The unprecedented rates of youth unemployment observed in many parts of the EU, particularly in Member States facing severe budgetary constraints, threaten the very fabric of our societies. Fragmented political responses, lack of solidarity and reluctance to address at the appropriate political level one of the ugliest consequences of the crisis have seriously undermined the job prospects of an entire generation of young Europeans. This publication brings together facts, figures and best practices from across the EU, mainly from members of the PES Group in the CoR, as well as the policy proposals of the European Socialist family for boosting youth employment.
