This textbook provides a comprehensive review of gynecological imaging in infancy, childhood, and adolescence. Experts from the disciplines of pediatric radiology, gynecology, surgery, and endocrinology have come together to produce a textbook that, while written primarily from the perspective of the radiologist, will be of interest to all professionals involved in the management of these patients. The normal development of the female reproductive tract is described in detail through embryological development, normal childhood appearances, and puberty. Congenital abnormalities are addressed in chapters reviewing structural abnormalities of the reproductive tract and disorders of sex development. A symptoms-based approach is followed in chapters devoted to the assessment of the patient with gynecological pain and disorders of menstruation. Disorders of the breast and the imaging of patients with gynecological neoplasia are considered in dedicated chapters. The specialty of pediatric gynecology is evolving rapidly, drawing on the skills and expertise of professionals from a wide range of specialties. This textbook should prove valuable to all who are involved in this new field of medicine.

In the era of molecular biology, an atlas that allows a rapid understanding of the complexity of ovarian processes is urgently needed. In this book, the author draws upon her own research, conducted over the past three decades, to provide a unique compilation of high-quality illustrations that offer illuminating insights in a readily accessible form. The ovarian follicles, the corpus luteum, and the interstitial cortex are presented as precisely controlled homeostatic compartments. Physiologic cell death forms and leukocyte subtypes are clearly depicted, and the various steps in the ovulatory process are demonstrated in detail. Further topics addressed include the microvascular bed, the plasticity of intraovarian nerves as part of the remodelling processes in the polycystic and the menopausal ovary, and the role of cytokeratin-positive cells (of steroidogenic or microvascular origin) as messengers of innate immunity. This atlas will be a fascinating and informative resource for both trainees and more experienced professionals.

Scrotal Pathology is a comprehensive practical guide to the management of patients who present with scrotal disorders. Introductory chapters consider imaging instrumentation, clinical evaluation, and clinical and imaging anatomy. The full range of disorders is then discussed in individual chapters organized according to clinical presentation. All clinical and imaging aspects are covered in depth, with full description of symptoms and explanation of the value of different clinical tests and imaging modalities. In addition, underlying histopathological features are presented and correlated with imaging features in order to clarify their pathological basis. For each disorder, therapeutic strategies are discussed and appraised. Adults and children are considered separately whenever necessary, bearing in mind that they often present essentially different scrotal pathology. The many images are all of high quality and were obtained using high-end equipment. The integrated information provided in this book will be invaluable in enabling different specialists to understand other perspectives and requirements and in filling gaps in knowledge.

Examining mating from the male perspective, this book provides an overview of mammalian reproduction to illustrate the important role that male desire plays in the life of mammals. Written in a conversational style that will appeal to those without specialist knowledge of the field, it begins with a broad overview of sexual reproduction in mammals, explaining the importance of mixing genes, sexual selection and the concept of mating seasons. Subsequent chapters examine some of the most important aspects in detail including mating behaviour, the structure and function of the male organs of reproduction and their physiological control and modes of copulation. A final chapter considers human reproduction, explaining how our physical and social evolution have contributed to the development of sexual behaviour that is markedly different to that of other mammals, due in particular to the absence of oestrus and seasonality in the human female.
