Ce septième numéro d'Incidence est centré sur un texte inédit de l'ethnologue africaniste Alfred Adler qui nous fait partager ses "Considérations anthropologiques sur la question de l'Etat".Que se passe-t-il lorsque, au lieu d'adhérer au grand récit classique de la naissance de l'Etat à partir du chaos originel, on est sensible au fait que le politique s'élabore dans l'ajustement toujours difficile de la gestion matérielle de la vie sociale et de la parole spirituelle qui lui donne sens ? Le politique pourrait bien n'être pas ce coup d'arrêt mythique mis à une violence originaire, mais la mise en forme symbolique d'une violence qui ne disparaît jamais.Le régicide - rituel en Afrique, indissociable de l'avènement de la modernité politique en Europe - apparaît bien dès lors comme un objet privilégié en ce qu'il requiert que la chose politique soit approchée à même son opacité foncière, au lieu où les frontières conceptuelles entre le droit, la force et la culture se brouillent étrangement, où le temporel et le spirituel ne peuvent précisément plus être rigoureusement partagés.Jamais le régicide n'est un pur meurtre : le seul fait que la mise à mort du roi exige un rituel dit assez que l'Etat ne saurait être pensé comme la pure forme rationnelle qu'engendrerait par soi la société.
