Abstract

Practical Hepatic Pathology-a new volume in the new Pattern Recognition series-offers you a practical guide to diagnosing every challenging liver biopsy that you encounter in your daily practice. Dr. Romil Saxena presents diagnoses according to a pattern-based organization that guides you from a histological pattern of injury, through the appropriate work-up, around the pitfalls, and to the best diagnosis. Lavish, full-color images capture key hepatic pathology patterns of injury, pathognomonic features and common variations of all major liver diseases and hepatic neoplasms, while a ""visua

Abstract

Vascular Liver Disease: Mechanisms and Management covers all of the disease entities that stem from abnormalities that affect the hepatic vasculature. This multi-authored text includes the mechanisms and management of intrahepatic vascular disease, including the most common cause of vascular disease of the liver, cirrhosis. Other less common diseases of the liver vasculature are also covered such as sinusoidal obstruction syndrome (previously known as veno-occlusive disease), portal vein thrombosis, the Budd-Chiari syndrome and congenital vascular malformations. These entities, although rare, are a challenge to physicians and physician scientists. Although many textbooks have been written on the consequences of cirrhosis on the liver vasculature, this is the only volume that focuses on the liver vasculature as a separate entity, providing an innovative approach to liver disease management. Vascular Liver Disease: Mechanisms and Management will be of great value to clinical investigators and basic scientists interested in the liver circulation as well as clinical gastroenterologists and hepatologists, hepatobiliary surgeons and transplant surgeons, and to interventional radiologists with a particular interest in the liver.

Abstract

The Frozen Section Library series provides concise, user-friendly, site specific handbooks that are well illustrated and highlight the pitfalls, artifacts and differential diagnosis issues that arise in the hurried frozen section scenario.   Frozen Section Library: Liver, Extrahepatic Biliary Tree and Gallbladder  provides a convenient reference for use during intraoperative consultation.  The volume addresses commonly encountered challenges, such as the diagnosis of primary and secondary hepatic neoplasms and assessment of gross abnormalities of the gallbladder.  The assessment of frozen section biopsies for liver transplantation, a challenging and increasingly encountered situation, is detailed in the form of histologic criteria that should be reported.  Emphasis is placed on the differential diagnoses of gross and microscopic findings with attention to potential pitfalls and artifacts encountered on frozen section. gross and microscopic images are provided as well as user-friendly tables for quick reference.
