Ce mémoire a donc pour objectif d'apporter un regard neuf sur le métier de formateur et d'en établir son profil en questionnant le formateur d'hier, d'aujourd'hui et de demain. Il permettra de faire le point sur les différentes facettes et représentations que peut avoir ce métier ainsi qu'une vulgarisation de celui-ci. Il s'agira donc d'une étude sociologique de la profession. En réalisant cette recherche, nous visons à mettre en lumière l'identité professionnelle du formateur, ses valeurs et l'idéologie défendue par ce métier, en remettant au clair ses compétences, ses fonctions, ses buts, ses enjeux, etc. Ceci permettrait à un grand nombre de personnes (du métier ou non) d'avoir une meilleure connaissance du métier car " construire une identité professionnelle commune, c'est élaborer un code de reconnaissance commun " (Allouche-Benayou et Pariat, 2000).
