Omdat de gemeente 500 jaar bestaat, zal er een toneelstuk opgevoerd worden over de geschiedenis van het dorp. De 12-jarige Dina wil graag de hoofdrol, maar er doen wel 46 kinderen auditie. Ze is heel teleurgesteld als ze een bijrol krijgt met maar zes zinnen en ze moet ook nog een kusscène spelen met de mooiste, meest populaire jongen van school. Ze ziet daar erg tegenop, maar met de hulp van haar zus -die drama studeert- en door veel naar films te kijken, maar vooral omdat ze het tenslotte toch wel fijn vindt Martijn te kussen, lukt dit heel goed en "Zijn oren fluiten". In de ik-vorm verteld, chronologisch verhaal met veel dialogen, waarin de gevoelens en twijfels van Dina en haar relatie tot de overige gezinsleden beschreven worden. Korte, door witregels onderverdeelde hoofdstukken; duidelijke druk met een overzichtelijke, ruime lay-out. Op de omslag in kleur een moderne, stripachtige (houten-poppen-) illustratie met de twee spelers.
