Japan to 1600 surveys Japanese historical development from the first evidence of human habitation in the archipelago to the consolidation of political power under the Tokugawa shogunate at the beginning of the seventeenth century. The book focuses on continuity and change in social and economic structures, although it does not ignore the political and cultural. Seit etwa 1995 beschäftigt sich das Gegenwartstheater verstärkt mit wirtschaftlichen Themen und untersucht das Verhältnis von Ökonomie, Sozialem und Ästhetik. Im Zentrum der Beiträge aus der Theater- und Literaturwissenschaft, der Soziologie, Betriebswirtschaft sowie der Theaterkritik steht das Interesse von Dramatikerinnen und Dramatikern sowie Regisseurinnen und Regisseuren an Arbeit und Arbeitslosigkeit, an Ausbeutungsverhältnissen des Theaters selbst sowie an kollektiven Arbeitsweisen und Netzwerkökonomien. Die Theatermacher_innen entdecken mit diesem Fokus auch das Soziale neu: Sie nutzen die Attraktivität von autobiografischem Material, das Authentizitätspotenzial von Laien auf der Bühne sowie die Produktivität von Teamarbeit. L'histoire économique n'est pas d'abord celle de l'Europe. La genèse de l'économie moderne est aussi orientale, comme le montre, bien avant notre Renaissance, la circulation afro-eurasienne des biens, des hommes et des techniques. Ce livre analyse les réseaux commerciaux asiatiques plurimillénaires, la technicité financière du monde musulman entre VIIIe et XIe siècle, le poids récurrent d'une Chine qui, la première, conçut à peu près toutes les techniques productives de base. Il cherche à comprendre les institutions de ces premiers échanges globaux, notamment les diasporas qui, après l'effondrement de l'empire romain, continuent d'animer les faibles échanges intra-européens sur un modèle pratiqué de longue date sur les routes de la soie. Notre eurocentrisme spontané n'en sort pas indemne: l'Europe est longtemps dépassée par l'Orient, en matière de PIB par tête, de croissance démographique, d'urbanisation, de techniques. Si l'histoire économique globale cherche à comprendre ces inégalités à travers le concept de "système-monde", elle est surtout confrontée à un paradoxe de taille: comment l'Europe, économiquement plus fruste, peut elle connaître cet essor spectaculaire à partir du XVIe siècle? C'est le défi que relève cet ouvrage en construisant pas à pas l'originalité du capitalisme européen, de fait largement fondé sur l'économie globale qui l'a précédé.
