This sixth edition of The Origin of Species was published in 1876. It is the last edition on which Darwin himself worked before his death in 1882, and offers a useful complement to the 2009 scholarly edition, edited by Jim Endersby and published by Cambridge University Press in Darwin's bicentennial year. The sixth edition contains a 'historical sketch' in which Darwin reviews the many works by eminent European and American scientists - beginning with Lamarck in 1801 - in which ideas of evolutionary species change and of natural selection were touched on but not developed. This edition, like all from the second onwards, contains the words 'by the Creator', controversially added to the famous last sentence in the book: 'There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers, having been breathed by the Creator into a few forms or into one...'

In Confirmation Wars, Benjamin Wittes examines the degradation of the judicial nominations process over the past fifty years. Drawing on years of reporting on judicial nominations, including numerous interviews with nominees and sitting judges, he explains how the process has changed and how these changes threaten the independence of the courts. Getting beyond the partisan blame game that dominates most discussion of nominations, he argues that the process has changed as an institutional response by Congress to modern judicial power and urges basic reforms to better insulate the judiciary from the nastiness of contemporary politics.

Have you ever hired someone whom you never should have hired in the first place? If your answer is "Yes", you're not alone. Few hiring managers have been taught to hire successfully. Since hiring is a decision that will have a huge impact on a company's most important assets-its employees-leaving hiring to chance seems unreasonable. There is no magic in making good hiring decisions; it's a skill anyone can learn. In Seven Rules for Hiring Extraordinary Talent, the author brings his thirty years of experience working with companies to find, select and hire key employees to life. The Seven Rules
