Abstract

The first German women's movement embraced the belief in a demographic surplus of unwed women, known as the Frauenüberschuß, as a central leitmotif in the campaign for reform. Case studies of reformers, including Lily Braun, Ruth Brè, , Elisabeth Gnauck-Kühne
