From the Reviews of the First Edition… "…provides an excellent overview and introduction to the management of neurological complications of cancer. Well organized and succinct, it is easy to locate and utilize information…" – Neurology "…an important resource for the medical oncologist, in the diagnosis and treatment of many neurological conditions caused by cancer… This book is original and is recommended for medical oncologists and radiotherapists, who will find it a useful guide to dealing with the neurological problems encountered in cancer patients." – Annals of Oncology "The editors and contributors are to be congratulated for producing a timely and comprehensive text of this rapidly evolving field. I strongly recommend Cancer Neurology in Clinical Practice for neurologists, including neuro-oncologists… The practical nature and clear presentation of the text make the information very accessible to those in neurosurgery, medical and radiation oncology, neuropathology, and neuroradiology." – Annals of Neurology From the Foreword to the First Edition… This book gives a comprehensive analysis of how cancer affects the nervous system… It encompasses the experience of senior physicians actively engaged in neuro-oncology centers throughout the world… The broad scope of this book will appeal to physicians who are not specialists, but who want an up-to-date reference on all aspects of neuro-oncology. – Jerome Posner, MD, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY Neuro-oncology has evolved substantially as a clinical and research discipline over the past few decades. Cancer Neurology in Clinical Practice: Neurologic Complications of Cancer and its Treatment, Second Edition provides clinicians from various backgrounds and levels of training with a reference to help focus the differential diagnosis, treatment strategy, and management plan for the cancer patient with neurologic symptoms and findings. The volume begins with an overview of the field of neuro-oncology and a review of the role of neuroimaging in the diagnosis of neuro-oncologic disease. Several chapters on interpretation and management of common neuro-oncologic symptoms follow. Subsequent sections contain chapters on the direct and indirect neurologic complications of cancer as well as complications of therapy. The final section focuses on the spectrum and management of neurologic disease in patients with cancer of specific organs. Cancer Neurology in Clinical Practice: Neurologic Complications of Cancer and its Treatment, Second Edition is an important new work that aims to broaden and deepen the familiarity of clinicians with the range and management of neuro-oncologic diseases in order to improve the quality of care for cancer patients.

The processes of tumor metastasis, apoptosis and anti-tumor immune response are among the most complex yet rapidly advancing fields in the area of cancer research. This monograph presents a comprehensive coverage of the recent advances in the various key concepts in these fundamental aspects of human cancer. It would be of particular interest to members of the cancer research community, especially those who are actively involved in the study of basic and translational aspects of human cancer. Specifically, this volume includes authentic subject reviews by leading experts on the following aspects: Control of tumor cell motility Role of tumor-cell adhesion and migration in organ-selective metastasis-formation Tumor heterogeneity in relation to invasion and metastasis and its clinical implications Tumor angiogenesis, angioprevention, anti-angiogenic therapies and response Role of apoptosis in the development, progression and therapy of cancer Role of macrophages in tumor development and metastasis Pathways of macrophage-mediated tumor progression Abnormal variation of immune response against cancer Immunological aspects of Marek’s disease virus (MDV)-induced lymphoma progression A biodynamical model of human T-cell proliferative disorders Current methodologies for characterization of tumor directed immune response.

This advanced textbook is the first to explore the consequences of plant dispersal for population and community dynamics, spatial patterns, and evolution. It successfully integrates a rapidly expanding body of theoretical and empirical research.· The first comprehensive treatment of plant dispersal set within a population framework· Examines both the processes and consequence of dispersal· Spans the entire range of research, from natural history and collection of empirical data to modeling and evolutionary theory· Provides a clear and simple explanation of mathematical concepts

The Special Data Dissemination Standard (SDDS) was established by the IMF in 1996 to guide members that already had, or that might seek, access to international capital markets in providing key economic and financial data to the public. In the following year, the IMF established the General Data Dissemination Standard (GDDS), which seeks to prepare countries for meeting the requirements of the SDDS. Data supplied by countries subscribing to the SDDS, as well as information provided by countries participating in the GDDS, are posted on the Dissemination Standards Bulletin Board (DSBB) on the IMF's public website (http://dsbb.imf.org). This Guide is intended to assist subscribers of the SDDS, GDDS participants moving toward subscription to the SDDS, and users of the DSBB in becoming aware of the features and scope of the SDDS and the DSBB. It is intended to further the IMF's initiatives in data transparency and standards, to enhance the public availability of timely and comprehensive international statistics, and therefore to contribute to countries pursuit of sound macroeconomic policies and to the improved functioning of global financial markets.

The Data Dissemination Initiative was launched in the mid-1990s as part of a broader internationally-agreed-upon initiative to strengthen transparency and promote good governance practices by establishing standards and codes. Ten years later, the initiative is viewed as an integral part of the international financial architecture, and is considered to have improved the functioning of international financial markets and contributed to global financial stability. This volume reviews certain aspects of the development of and experience with the initiative over the past decade, and concludes by reflecting on potential challenges ahead and possible enhancements.
