Abstract

The volume presents the edition of a copy of an anonymous Russian manuscript spelling book probably written by the famous scholar Yevfimiy Cudovsky, or by personalities close to him from the Muscovite background of the Philhellenes, in the 1680s. This spelling book represents a significant evidence of the level reached, on the eve of the great reforms introduced by Peter, by the Russian didactic literature intended for elementary education, heir to the tradition established by Ivan Fyodorov with the manual printed in Lviv in 1574. The edition is accompanied by a preface and a commentary that locates the spelling book in the Russian historical-cultural and literary context of the second half of the 17th century, particularly in relation to other books of this kind and grammar manuals circulating at the time.

Abstract

The Proceedings of the 9th Conference of the International Society of Italian Linguistics and Philology (SILFI), «Prospects in the study of Italian vocabulary» (Florence, 14-17 June 2006), comprise 88 contributions by scholars from Italy and abroad. The essays are divided into twelve sections, each representing a study prospect, thus illustrating the vitality of the great tradition of Italian studies on language. The Conference confirms the importance of tradition, but also points up how the new areas of study - concerning the use of information infrastructures for the acquisition and conservation of the linguistic heritage - are by now pivotal both for research and for the establishment of essential resources for the defence and promotion of our language. Meditation on the Italian lexicon at this moment in time signifies retrieving the relation between our language and our culture, which tends to be overshadowed in a period of globalisation and of vehicular language such as the present.

Abstract

Deze bundel bevat een selectie van artikelen die geschreven zijn door minorstudenten toegepaste taalwetenschap op basis van interviews met Nederlanders die dagelijks meer dan één taal gebruiken om in te communiceren. De bundel probeert door persoonlijke verhalen inzichtelijk te maken hoe meertaligheid werkt. Voor meertalige Nederlanders functioneren de verhalen als een bron van herkenning, die een ruimere blik op hun eigen situatie kan bieden. Tegelijkertijd is het de bedoeling dat eentalige lezers meertaligheid gaan waarderen als iets waardevols en het niet langer zien als een gebrek aan integratie.
