The treatment of gynecologic cancers at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center has a long history of multidisciplinary cooperation. Gynecologic Cancer, the fifth volume in the M. D. Anderson Cancer Care Series, details M. D. Anderson’s approach to the care of women with gynecologic cancers. Written for physicians, the book emphasizes the day-to-day aspects of practice, minimizing extensive literature review and approaches not yet incorporated into routine practice. In 17 comprehensive yet concise chapters, M. D. Anderson faculty describe their approaches to the treatment of endometrial, ovarian, and cervical cancers, as well as preinvasive gynecologic diseases, vaginal and vulvar cancers, uterine sarcomas, and rare ovarian malignancies. In addition to the discussions of individual disease sites, the book contains chapters on prevention, pathology, imaging, fertility-sparing options, quality of life issues, including sexual functioning, and palliative care. Each chapter includes a list of suggested readings and key practice points that highlight the most important principles presented. This thorough, practical volume, which includes more than 60 photographs and line drawings, is an essential clinical guide for oncologists, surgeons, and all physicians involved in the care of patients with gynecologic cancers. .

The AJCC Cancer Staging Atlas contains black-and-white illustrations, created exclusively for the book, depicting the anatomic extent of disease for tumor (T), regional lymph node (N), and distant metastasis (M). The images provide thorough anatomic depictions to clarify critical structures and allow the reader to instantly visualize the progressive extent of malignant disease. Numerous labels identify important anatomic structures. NOTE: The AJCC Cancer Staging Atlas is based on the 6th edition staging schemas and many images may not reflect the current 7th edition staging system.

This second revised and updated edition provides an easily comprehensible and practicable framework for standardized histopathology reports in surgical cancer. It details the gross description, histological classification, tumor differentiation, extent of local tumor spread, involvement of lymphovascular channels, lymph nodes and excision margins of the common carcinomas and also summarizes non-carcinomatous malignancies. The sixth edition TNM classification of cancers is incorporated, with comments on any associated pathology, diagnostic clues and prognostic criteria. Staging information is supplemented visually by line diagrams. Features: • Emphasizes those gross and histological features that are relevant to clinical management and prognosis • Uses a systematic approach to surgical pathology specimens resulting in focused histopathology reports • Lists useful ancillary techniques in diagnostic reporting • Facilitates audit of pathological and surgical practice The book complements several other important publications such as the Royal College of Pathologists Cancer Histopathology Data Sets, the sixth edition of the AJCC Cancer Staging Manual and WHO Classification of Tumours: Pathology and Genetics Blue Book and will be invaluable for histopathology residents and practitioners worldwide.

In the age of the World Wide Web, informed patients continue to surprise oncologists with detailed questions about popular tumor therapies. Although minimally invasive tumor therapies (MITT) have become daily clinical practice for palliative treatment of liver tumors, the acceptance of these palliative modalities still varies enormously. In addition, promising results have been published for in situ ablation of lung metastases, bone tumors, and renal cell carcinoma. This book gives an up-to-date overview of the popular techniques and clinical results of MITT, with a clarification of the actual indications including the size, tumor entities, and clinical benefits. Moreover, the book focuses on the prospectives and limitations of imaging methods - ultrasound, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging - used for MITT.

Oncology: An Evidence-Based Approach is a textbook designed to reflect the principles and current practice of oncology with contributors from the fields of medical, surgical, and radiation oncology. The textbook will incorporate an evidence-based approach, enabling the reader to make decisions on the basis of concrete data. Sections on solid tumors, hematologic malignancies and the practice of oncology address the natural history and therapy for the full spectrum of neoplastic diseases in the adult. Further sections present fundamentals of supportive care of the cancer patient, the management of oncologic emergencies and acute toxicities of therapy, as well as care of metastatic disease and the terminally-ill patient. Breaking new ground, the textbook features thoughtful, in-depth sections on cancer prevention and control, cancer surviorship, the economics of cancer care, and cancer informatics. Cancer imaging is covered with an organ system-based approach, with an additional chapter on the especially intriguing potential of PET. Furthermore, a comprehensive section on translational basic science reviews the fundamentals of molecular biology, the cell cycle and signal transduction, carcinogenesis, cancer genetics, the biology of invations and metastasis, and tumor immunology.
